GROVE CITY, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Westminster College completed an undefeated run through the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Tournament by shutting out Grove City College 7-0 in the championship game, as the Titans earned their second consecutive conference title.

Due to continued rain in Western Pa., the Tournament had postponed play since last Saturday before resuming at Grove City, who was the top seed and host for the PAC Tournament. Following the five-day break, the opening game on Thursday saw Grove City score three times in the bottom of the seventh to edge Geneva College 10-9 and advance to the final against Westminster.

As the winner of this year's championship tournament title, Westminster secures the PAC's automatic qualifying bid to the Division III Softball Championship, with teams and regional site selections announced on Monday, May 12. Regional round play is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 15-17 and the Super Regionals will be played Thursday-Friday, May 22-23.

Game I - No. 1 Grove City 10, No. 3 Geneva 9

In a game that saw major swings throughout, it was Grove City's three-run rally in the seventh that lifted the Wolverines to a 10-9 walk-off win over Geneva.

Both teams scored runs in the first inning and Geneva struck for a pair in the second on a two-run single Isabela Skrlac. The first major swing was by Grove City, who pushed four runs across in the bottom of the second. The initial run scored on an RBI double by Kyla Campbell and Maci Linhart capped the inning with an RBI single, which put the Wolverines on top 5-3.

After Geneva scored one in the fourth on an RBI single by Payton James, Grove City padded their lead with two runs in the fifth off a two-run single by Rachel Zona to make it 7-4 going into the sixth inning.

The next major momentum swing belonged to Geneva and came in that sixth inning, as the Golden Tornadoes scored five times to take a 9-7 lead. The first run of the frame scored on an error and that was followed by a pinch-hit three-run homer by Callie Mangen. Geneva wasn't done there, pushing the lead to 9-7 on a RBI triple by Kyra Wilcox.

Grove City was held scoreless in the sixth, but the final rally started with one out in the seventh on a single by Emma Covert. A ground out put the Wolverines to their final out but an error kept the inning alive. The next batter Kristin Tesch delivered a clutch two-run double that tied the game at 9-9 and Evelyn Montone followed by rolling a single to center field to bring home the winning run and send Grove City into the championship game with the dramatic win.

Grove City finished with 15 hits in the victory, with seven players posting multiple hits. Tesch and Montone both had two hits and drove in three each, while Zona had two hits and knocked in a pair. Earning the win in the circle was Campbell, who threw the final 1.2 innings and didn't allow a run on one hit with one strikeout.

For Geneva, James finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Molly Shelley and Justine Robbins both had two hits and scored two runs.

Game J - No. 2 Westminster 7, No. 1 Grove City 0
Westminster starting pitcher Cheyenne Piper threw her third shutout of the Tournament, as she blanked Grove City on four hits, while the Titan scored three times in the first and added on through the game to post a 7-0 victory to clinch the PAC Championship.

Westminster supplied their pitcher all the runs she needed in the first, starting with a two-run single by Lily Jordan and finishing with a sacrifice fly by Morgan O'Brien for a 3-0 lead. The Titans would cushion with two runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Sam Levac and put an exclamation point on the conference title with a two-run homer by O'Brien in the seventh.

Meanwhile, Piper stymied the Grove City bats, shutting them out on four hits while walking two and striking out four. She set the side down in order in three innings and a runner didn't reach third base until the seventh inning. It completed a dominating Tournament run for Piper, as she went 3-0 and didn't allow a run in 19 innings pitched while giving up just seven hits and striking out 13. She was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player following the Tournament.

Two Titans finished with two hits each to lead the efforts at the plate. Levac was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Natalie Davis had two singles, while Faith Jones scored twice from the leadoff position in the lineup. Others named to the All-Tournament Team included Jordan, Jones and Mia Meholick.

Westminster has now won three PAC championships in program history, adding 2025 to their titles in 2024 and 2005.
