KILLEEN FINISHES CAREER AS A TOP FREE THROW SHOOTER (3/10/10)
Washington & Jefferson senior Kennan Killeen closed
out the 2010 season and her collegiate career finishing with
the ninth-best free throw percentage in NCAA Division III
history. During her four-year career, Killeen shot 85.6
percent (339-of-396) from the charity stripe. She also landed
eighth on the Presidents' all-time scoring list with 1,189
points by the end of the season, in addition to being named the
2010 PAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
GENEVA'S SUMNER EARNS 500TH CAREER COACHING WIN (3/9/10)
Geneva head baseball coach Alan Sumner
became the first coach in GT history in any sport to record 500
career coaching wins, when the Golden Tornadoes swept a
doubleheader from Martin Luther College on Monday. Sumner is in
his 22nd year at the helm of the GT baseball program.

The first 2010
PAC spring releases for the week ending March 7 in the
sports of baseball,
softball and
men's tennis are now online. Conference statistics for
baseball and softball will be available once teams return from
their Spring Break trips to Florida.
NINE PAC SWIMMERS QUALIFY FOR 2010 NCAA
CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/8/10)
Nine PAC swimming standouts, including six from PAC champion
Grove City and three from Westminster, have qualified for and will
compete in the
2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, to be
held March 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minn. For the Wolverines,
juniors Lauren
Baur and Sarah Page, sophomore Jenna Richert, and
freshmen Angela Palumbo, Kaitlin
Riesmeyer and Jenny Ryan
will represent Grove City at the 2010 Championships. Grove
City's 200 and 800 free relay squads both received invitations to
the NCAA Championships. Because those two units received
invitations, the participating members can also compete in events in
which they provisionally qualified.
For Westminster, junior
Courtney Herdt of the women's team was the one Titan
swimmer who made the cut with a provisional qualifying time, joining
senior Ben Gutmann of the men's team and sophomore
Caitlin Lehberger of the women's team who already
had their tickets punched with automatic qualifying times.
SAINT VINCENT TAKES ECAC D-III SOUTH REGION
CHAMPIONSHIP (3/7/10)
The Saint Vincent women's basketball team earned the
2010 ECAC Division III Women's Basketball South Region
championship, following a
60-58 win over Juniata. Sophomore guard
Emily Fenton sunk a pair of free throws with 5.4 seconds left in
the contest to break the 58-all tie and sealed the victory. The
Bearcats close out a momentous season with a 23-5 overall record. In
addition to bringing home the ECAC title this season, the Bearcats
posted its 13th season with 20+ wins, as well as marked its 500th
win with the close of the regular season.
PAC HOOPS TEAMS POST 2-2 POSTSEASON MARK ON MARCH

It was a mixed day for PAC basketball teams in postseason action
on Saturday, March 6, as conference squads went 2-2 overall. PAC
women's champion Thomas More saw its season come to an end in the
second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, as the Saints fell
at home 80-64 to Washington (Mo.). TMC closed the 2009-10 campaign
at 26-4 overall with the loss. In the ECAC D-III South Women's
Tournament, the Saint Vincent women overcame a 15-point halftime
deficit to defeat Alvernia
74-69 in semifinal action. The Bearcats
will now host the winner of the other semifinal between
Widener-Juniata for the ECAC title at the Carey Center tomorrow
(Sunday, March 7) at 4 p.m. In ECAC men's action, Bethany narrowly
dropped a
67-65 decision to Penn State-Behrend in a semifinal
matchup at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., to close the
season at 19-9 overall. Finally, the Geneva men captured the 2010 NCCAA East Regional title by virtue of an
81-74 home victory over
D-II Nyack. The GTs now advance to the NCCAA National Tournament, to
be held March 18-20 in Oakland City, Ind., against an opponent TBA.
GARBER, BROWN FINISH 7-8 AT 133, BOTH D-III
ALL-AMERICANS (3/6/10)
The
2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships concluded with a
pair of PAC stalwarts earning All-America status at 133 pounds.
Nick Garber of Waynesburg fell 16-2 to William Livingston
of Centenary to open the day, while
Corey Brown of Thiel dropped a 3-2 decision to Aliamain
Sterling of Cortland State. The two PAC rivals then met in the
7th place match, with Garber recording the final 11 points to record
a come-from-behind 13-6 win over Brown. With the seventh place
finish, Garber became the first Yellow Jacket All-American since
Shawn Whyte in 2001. With his eighth-place finish, Brown is now
a two-time All-American (sixth-place finish in 2009).

PAC GOES 1-2 IN NCAA TOURNAMENT; TMC WOMEN
ADVANCE

PAC teams went 1-2 in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA
Division III Basketball Tournaments on Friday, March 5. The lone
victor for the conference was women's champion Thomas More, which
rolled to a
68-49 home decision over Fontbonne. With the win, the
Saints will now host Washington (Mo.) University in a second round
matchup at the Connor Convocation Center on Saturday night (March 6)
at 7 p.m. In other league action, the PAC champion Grove City
College men hung tight with national power Wooster, before falling
by a 63-52 score to end the season at 19-9. In other women's action,
a long scoreless spell was costly for the Washington & Jefferson
women, who were eliminated with a
71-48 loss to Mount Union in a
first round game at Messiah College. The Presidents closed the
2009-10 campaign at 23-5.
BROWN, GARBER EARN ALL-AMERICA STATUS, SEMPLE ELIMINATED ON
DAY ONE OF 2010 NCAA DIVISION III WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first day of the
2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships saw a pair of
PAC wrestlers clinch All-America status while advancing to
Saturday competition, while another was eliminated with a 1-2
record. At 133 pounds, both PAC champion Corey Brown of
Thiel and Midwest Regional champion Nick Garber of
Waynesburg went 2-1 Friday to clinch at least a Top-8 finish
entering Saturday's matches. Brown became a two-time
All-American after rebounding from an 8-4 loss to #4 seed
Sean White of Wartburg to defeat Drew Hinschberger of
Coe 6-2 and #6 seed Munkhbaater Baatar of St. Johns 10-7.
Garber followed a similar track in the other half of the 133-lb.
bracket, losing his opener to #3 Paul Bjorkstrand of
Augsburg 10-6, then posting victories over Paul Marcello
of Johns Hopkins (8-7) and White by a 13-6 score. With the wins,
he becomes the first All-American wrestler at Waynesburg since
2001. Yellow Jacket 184-pounder Corbin Semple posted a
1-2 mark Friday. After a 5-2 loss to Josh Wake of SUNY-Oneonta,
Semple pinned Nic Barclay of Luther in 4:25 before being
eliminated by top seed Tyler Burkle of Coe 9-3 in the
nightcap.

CHATHAM HIRES CONSUEGRA AS NEW VOLLEYBALL COACH (3/5/10)
Chatham University
has announced the hiring of Kristin (Hozak) Consuegra as
its new head volleyball coach. She replaces Frank
Stackiewicz, who resigned after two seasons. Consuegra comes
to Chatham from Division II Indiana (Pa.), where she served as
an assistant volleyball coach. She is a 2008 graduate of PAC
member Saint Vincent College, where was
a four-year starter as a member of the Bearcat womens
volleyball team where she led the Bearcats to two consecutive
ECAC Division II championships in 2006 and 2007 playing for her
mother (and now PAC coaching rival ) Sue Hozak.
PAC TRIO READY TO ROLL AT D-III WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Three PAC wrestling standouts will attempt to bring home a
national title this weekend at the
2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa. The
complete brackets are now online. A pair of 133-pounders -
PAC champion Corey Brown of Thiel and Midwest Regional
champion Nick Garber of Waynesburg - open with tough
matches. Garber, who is
unseeded going into the event, must first face third-seeded
Paul Bjorkstrand of Augsburg in the opening round, while
Brown, who is also unseeded, is matched against fourth-seed
Sean White of Wartburg. PAC and Midwest Regional 184-pound
champion Corbin Semple of Waynesburg is seeded seventh
and will open against unseeded Josh Wake of SUNY College
at Oneonta. Waynesburg will be providing
live online updates, as well as regular radio updates on
WCYJ-FM throughout the weekend.
BETHANY MEN, SAINT VINCENT WOMEN SWEEP ECAC OPENERS (3/3/10)
The 2010 basketball postseason got off to a great start for
the PAC on Wednesday night, as both active conference squads
posted first round home wins in the ECAC Division III South
Region Basketball Tournaments. In men's action,
#2 seed Bethany
edged #7 Neumann 70-68 to advance to the weekend semifinals at
top-seeded Catholic University in Washington, DC, where the
Bison will face #3 seed Penn State Behrend on Saturday at 7
p.m.. The women's game saw
#2 seed Saint Vincent top local rival and #7 seed
Pitt-Greensburg 81-71 to reach the semifinal round. The
Bearcats received extra good news as #8 Juniata upset #1 Lebanon
Valley, meaning Saint Vincent will host the semifinals and
finals in Latrobe Saturday and Sunday. SVC will face #6 seed Alvernia
on Saturday at 5:30 p.m..
PAC RELEASES 2009-10 ALL-SPORTS TROPHY STANDINGS (3/3/10)
The Grove City College men and women
each hold narrow leads in the race
for the
2009-10 PAC All-Sports Trophies,
through the conclusion of the 2009-10 winter sports season. The
all-sports trophies are awarded annually to the schools which
perform the best across the board in league competition.

Thomas More College senior men's basketball standout
Daniel McKeehan
has been selected as one of the 10 finalists for the highly
prestigious
2010 Jostens Trophy. The Jostens Trophy is a national award
created by the Rotary Club of Salem, Virginia, to honor the most
outstanding men's Division III basketball player of the year. The
award takes into account three vital parts: basketball ability,
academic prowess and community service.

The 2010 All-PAC Men's Basketball teams
have been released. PAC champion Grove City College swept the major
awards, as senior C Andy O'Keefe earned PAC Player of the
Year honors while veteran Wolverine mentor Steve Lamie was
tabbed 2010 PAC Coach of the Year.
BETHANY MEN, SAINT VINCENT WOMEN EARN ECAC HOOPS
BIDS (3/1/10)
The Bethany College men and the Saint Vincent College women have
each been selected to participate in the 2010 ECAC Division III
South Region Basketball Tournaments as the #2 seeds for
men and
women, respectively. The
Bison (18-8) will host #7 Neumann (16-12)
on Wednesday at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the weekend
semifinals/finals at Catholic University in Washington, DC. The
Bearcats (20-5) host local rival and #7 seed Pitt-Greensburg (17-9),
also on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The weekend semifinals and finals will
be held at the top remaining seed after the first round. Saint
Vincent could host the weekend games with a win, coupled with a win
by #8 Juniata over #1 Delaware Valley on Wednesday.
