GROVE CITY, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Geneva College kept their championship hopes alive Saturday morning with a 10-6 victory over Thiel College in an elimination game at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Tournament, being held at Grove City College.

Rain moved into the Grove City area following the morning game, forcing the postponement of the rest of Saturday's schedule. The Tournament will resume Monday, May 5th with Geneva playing Grove City at 1 pm in the final game of the loser's bracket. That winner will move on to Game J Monday afternoon at 3 pm against Westminster College in the championship game. The If Necessary game would be played at 5 pm.

Game H - No. 3 Geneva 10, No. 6 Thiel 6
Geneva battled back from early 3-1 and 5-3 deficits by scoring seven straight runs between the third and fifth innings and coming away with a 10-6 triumph over Thiel to stay alive in the PAC Tournament. The Golden Tornadoes scored once in the first, but the Tomcats plated three in the second inning, with the big hit being a two-run single by Alaina Fedder. Geneva tied the score with two runs in the second, but the Tomcat regained the lead with a pair in the third off an RBI double by Kylie Heid and run-scoring single by Fedder.

Geneva would come back to tie the game again with two runs in the third and surged into the lead for good in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Justine Robbins. The GTs padded their lead with three more in the fifth inning to push their advantage to five runs and despite Thiel scoring once in the sixth, Geneva would hold the 10-6 lead through the final out in the seventh to stay in the PAC Tournament.

At the plate, Geneva finished with nine hits, with two coming from Robbins and Kyra Wilcox, who both also drove in two each, while Julia Hart had a double, RBI and scored twice. The Golden Tornadoes had four pitchers go into the circle Saturday, with McKenzie Rapp throwing the bulk of the innings. She earned the win with four innings of work and allowed two runs on four hits.

The winner of this year's championship tournament title will secure the PAC's automatic qualifying bid to the Division III Softball Championship, with teams and regional site selections announced on Monday, May 12. Regional round play is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 15-17 and the Super Regionals will be played Thursday-Friday, May 22-23.
