BETHANY, W.Va. (pacathletics.org) – Bethany College Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller, MBA ’23, has announced the appointment of Riley LaBoe as the new head coach of the College’s softball program.

LaBoe will take over the Bethany head coaching job after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. While at Stevens, she helped lead the Ducks to two postseason berths, including the third-best season in program history in 2026 as the team finished with a 24-16 record. LaBoe was the team’s recruiting coordinator and held the position of development and alumni coordinator for the Stevens Athletic Department.  

Before her time at Stevens, LaBoe was a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater, Wheeling University, for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and has also served as both a coach and instructor in her hometown for over 10 years.  

“We are thrilled to welcome Riley back to the Ohio Valley and to Bethany College as the next leader of our softball program,” said Windmiller. “Her experience as a student-athlete, coach, and recruiter, combined with her deep understanding of the game, makes her an excellent fit for Bethany.” 

Before joining the ranks as a coach, LaBoe was a five-year member of the softball team at Wheeling. She primarily played infield and designated hitter over the course of three seasons for the Cardinals and was a team manager for two years. LaBoe also had a standout career at Perry High School, where she was named the 2016 Chagrin Valley Conference Player of the Year and was a part of three CVC Championship teams.  

“I’m incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the head softball coach at Bethany College,” said LaBoe. “I want to thank Jen and the rest of the administration for placing their trust in me to lead this program. I’m excited to build upon the strong traditions of Bethany softball and help take the program to the next level. I truly believe this program is on the brink of something special, and I’m eager to be a part of that continued growth.” 

LaBoe graduated from Wheeling with both her Bachelor of Science in exercise science in 2022 and her Master of Business Administration in 2024.
