TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) -- Waynesburg University senior Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. | Riverside) and Washington & Jefferson College junior Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Montour) were named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athletes of the Month for February.
Each month, the SAAC groups at PAC member institutions are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must be varsity team members in their respective sport and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within their campus communities.
During the month of February, Wolf helped the Yellow Jackets collect their final two victories against Franciscan and Thiel to wrap up the 2023-2024 season. In the season finale over Thiel, the team captain shot .429 from the field, netting 15 points while adding a pair rebounds and two steals. A multisport athlete, Wolf is also a member of the Jackets’ women’s golf team.
The senior psychology major maintains a 3.86 GPA and has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll multiple times.
Playing an active role on campus, Wolf is a member of SAAC and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also serves as The Yellow Jacket (campus newspaper) Managing Op-ed Editor and is the Vice-President of the Society of Professional Journalists, which provides print and broadcast students the chance to obtain professional connections through journalism events and conferences. Wolf is the treasurer of the Public Relations Society while being a member of the Newman Club, as well as Yearbook.
Female February honorable mention nominees included: Allegheny junior Laila Davis (indoor track & field); Bethany senior Bella Skobel (basketball); Franciscan senior Sarah Kelty (swimming); Grove City junior Kamryn Kerr (swimming & diving); W&J senior Meghan Dryburgh (basketball) and Westminster senior Breannda Davis (basketball/indoor track & field).
With a fifth-place finish in the 5000m (15:31.67), second place in the Mile Run (4:24.98), sixth place in the 800m (1:58.97) and fifth place in the Distance Medley Relay, Paul helped the Presidents to their second-place finish in the PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 22nd. This performance earned the junior a total of 16 points for the team, who scored a final of 125.5 total team points.
Paul was recognized as PAC Track Athlete of the Week on January 16, 2024, as well as Washington Health System Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
The junior maintains a 3.78 GPA while studying Computing and Information Studies. The two-sport athlete received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District in 2022-23 and was a 2023 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All Academic Cross-Country Team selection. Paul has earned PAC Academic Honor Roll honors multiple times.
Male February honorable mention nominees included: Allegheny senior Joe McAuliffe (indoor track & field); Geneva senior Gabe Trexler (indoor track & field); Grove City junior Nicholas Petucci (indoor track & field); Waynesburg senior Bryson Wilt (basketball) and Westminster senior Reese Leone (basketball).
