About the PAC Championships
The 2014 PAC Fall Golf Championships will be held Monday and Tuesday, September 29-30 at the New Castle Country Club in New Castle, Pa.
2014 marks the first year a PAC Championship event will be contested at New Castle Country Club.
The 2014-15 PAC Championships feature a 72-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes played at the Fall Championships and another 36 holes played at the Spring Championships in April. The combined 72-hole team total will determine the 2014-15 PAC team champions and winners of the league's men’s and women’s automatic bids to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships.
Five golfers will make up a team, with the lowest four scores per round from the designated five-player team used in team score compilation.
New for 2014-15 season, the All-PAC teams, as well the PAC Players of the Year, will be determined by the combined 72-hole scores from the Fall and Spring Championships. In previous years, All-PAC and Player of the Year honors were determined exclusively at the 36-hole Spring Championships. The All-PAC teams will be made up of the top 15 overall scorers (5 first team, 5 second team, 5 honorable mention).
Last year, the Saint Vincent College men and the Grove City College women claimed their respective conference titles at Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon, Pa. The team titles were the second straight for both Saint Vincent and Grove City.
Thomas More College’s Mike Marcagi took home PAC Golfer of the Year honors after carding a tournament-low 150 (77-73) in the 44-player field.
For the third-straight year, Grove City’s Esther Durling was named the PAC Golfer of the Year after firing a second-round 81 to pace the 33-golfer field. Durling finished with a two-day score of 165. |
