NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - After poor weather pushed the schedule back a day, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Tournament resumed Saturday and was highlighted by a slugfest in the opening game and the host Westminster College advancing to Monday's championship game.
The Tournament will take Sunday off before picking back up Monday with No. 2 Geneva College taking on third-seeded Bethany College at 11 am, with the winner advancing to the championship game at 1 pm against top seed Westminster. The If necessary game is scheduled for 3 pm on Monday.

Game E – No. 4 Hiram 15, No. 6 Saint Vincent 14
- In the highest scoring PAC Tournament game in league history, Saint Vincent erased an eight-run deficit to tie the game before Hiram walked it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to win a wild 15-14 game to open Saturday's slate.
- Hiram plated five runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to build an 11-3 cushion.
- Saint Vincent (20-18) extended the game with a run in the fifth before scoring four in the sixth.
- The Terriers answered with three in the sixth for a 14-8 lead, but SVC erased all of that with six runs in the top of the seventh to draw even at 14-14.
- Hiram then loaded the bases with no outs in the last half of the inning when junior shortstop Lola Thomas (Painesville, Ohio/Harvey) dropped a single into right-center field for the winning run.
- Hiram pounded out 20 hits in the victory, with five players getting three or more. Thomas had four hits and drove in two, while junior DP Hannah Marlow (Hunstville, Ohio/Calvary Christian) also had four and knocked in three.
- Freshman right fielder Hannah Schimmoeller (Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor) cranked a grand slam among her three hits and had five RBIs and senior left fielder Megan Moser (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) and junior third base Daynna Mekaru (Kaneohe, Hawaii/Mid-Pacific Institute) had three hits and scored three runs each.
- Saint Vincent lost despite a huge game from sophomore third base Josey Michaelski (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) who cracked a two-run homer in the third inning, a grand slam in the sixth and finished 4-for-5 with seven RBIs and four runs scored.
- SVC sophomore center fielder Taylor Williams (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West) drove in three, sophomore second base Eva Farone (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) had two hits and two RBIs and junior shortstop Mackenzie Favero (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) collected two hits and scored three times.
Game F – No. 3 Bethany 9, No. 5 Waynesburg 1 (5 inn.)
- Two home runs and another strong pitching performance from sophomore Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) boosted Bethany to a 9-1 win in five innings over Waynesburg University (26-16).
- Junior third base Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) put the Bison on top quickly with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.
- Senior DP Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) highlighted a three-run second inning with an RBI single and after the Yellow Jackets plated one in the third, Ziems hammered a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to all but seal the win.
- Seven Bison had hits in the game, with Ziems leading the offense by going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored
- In addition to going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI at the plate, Edge had a solid outing in the circle, allowing one unearned run on three hits in five innings with one walk and six Ks.
- Waynesburg senior DP Madie Cicero (Willowick, Ohio/Eastlake North) had a single and scored the Yellow Jackets' run.
Game G – No. 1 Westminster 6, No. 2 Geneva 3
- A three-run fifth inning helped push No. 1 Westminster (29-9) to a five-run lead and the Titans held off a late Geneva charge for a 6-3 win.
- A sacrifice fly and an error gave Westminster two runs in the first, which was answered by an RBI single from Geneva center fielder Molly Shelley (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) in the third for a 2-1 Titan lead.
- The three-run fifth inning for Westminster included RBI singles by sophomore second base Morgan O'Brien (Coraopolis, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) and junior shortstop Ava Karpa (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) and another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly made it 6-1 Titans going to the seventh.
- The Golden Tornadoes (33-9) made it interesting in the seventh with a two-run double by Shelley and the GTs brought the tying run to the plate, but a fly out ended the game and sent Westminster into Monday's final.
- O'Brien knocked in two runs for the Titans, while junior catcher Faith Jones (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) and freshman third base Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) both had two hits and scored twice.
- Westminster sophomore Cheyenne Piper (Latrobe, Pa./Ligonier Valley) earned her 17th win this year with a complete game and struck out 10.
- Shelley had the big bat for Geneva with two hits and three RBIs, while senior catcher Madison Rapp (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and left fielder Payton James (McKinney, Texas/McKinney) had two hits and one run scored each.
Game H – No. 3 Bethany 2, No. 4 Hiram 1
- A two-run fifth inning was enough to lift Bethany (30-11) to a 2-1 win over Hiram (19-21) and kept higher seeds undefeated through the first eight games of the PAC Softball Tournament.
- The first three innings were scoreless before Hiram pushed a run across in the fourth. Marlow doubled with one out, freshman pinch runner Emrie Fink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) took third on a fly out and she scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 Terrier lead.
- The Bison were blanked through four innings on four hits, but struck for a pair of runs in the fifth. The rally started with a leadoff single by senior right fielder Trista Morris (Woodsfield, Ohio/Monroe Central), then she scored on a triple by sophomore left fielder Amber Dedmon (Canton, Ohio/Canton South) and Dedmon came home on a sacrifice fly by Edge.
- Edge took it from there, retiring the final six Hiram batters after Bethany took the lead. She pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
- Morris and Dedmon collected two hits each and both scored a run.
- Hiram junior pitcher Yasmine Clark (San Diego, Calif./Hilltop) took the hard-luck loss, scattering eight hits and allowing two runs withe zero walks and one strikeout.
