MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (pacathletics.org) - Geneva College made conference history Friday when the Golden Tornadoes captured the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
The PAC Championship Meet was once again held at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.
It was the fifth conference title for Geneva and first since 2021. The GTs scored 145.5 points to just edge out Grove City College, who totaled 138 points, while Westminster College was third with 108 points. Ranking fourth was Washington & Jefferson College with 80 points, followed by Allegheny College (72), Hiram College (57), Bethany College (52), Saint Vincent College (48), Franciscan University (27), Waynesburg University (26), Thiel College (19.5) and Chatham University (four).
The history for Geneva was the completion of a PAC trifecta for the Golden Tornadoes, who also won championships in men's cross country and men's indoor track and field this year. The GT men also swept all three titles this year, making it the first time in PAC history the men's and women's teams from the same school have won cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field in the same year.
Geneva's victory was based on its balance through all events. The GTs won a pair of individual events and one relay, but had athletes score in 17 of the 20 events overall. One event win was the 4x400 relay, which held off Grove City in the final race of the meet to secure the PAC title.
Helping the lead the championship effort was Geneva sophomore Abraham Konneh, who earned PAC Track MVP. He won the title in the 200 with a time of 21.69 seconds, finished second in the 100 (10.74) and ran on both the 4x100 relay that placed second and the winning 4x400 relay.
The overall Track and Field MVP, as well as the PAC Newcomer of the Year, was Bethany freshman Jason Ellman. Also the Track & Field MVP and Newcomer of the Year at PAC Indoor Championships, he scored 24.5 points this week to add the outdoor honors to his credit. He ran on the winning 4x100 relay, which finished in 40.64 seconds to set a new conference meet record. Individually, Ellman was second in the 200 (21.96 seconds) and long jump (22-4.25) and third in 100 (10.92).
Allegheny sophomore Andre Anderson picked up field MVP honors after he scored 22 points with three top-three placements. He claimed runner-up in the hammer (44.10m/144-08) and discus (42.78m/140-04) and earned third in the shot put (13.78m/45-2.50).
After leading his team to the historic PAC trifecta, the Coach of the Year award went to Geneva head coach Phil Thompson. It was his third coaching honor of the year to go with cross country and indoor track and field accolades.
The PAC also released its 2026 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Sportsmanship Team (linked above). The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.
