GROVE CITY, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Grove City College closed out its eighth consecutive and 26th overall Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title Saturday, as the Wolverines won three individual events and one relay on the final day of the PAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Men's Team Scoring
Grove City amassed 1,063 total points to secure the championship, the third year in a row the Wolverines surpassed 1,000 points at the meet. Coming in second place was Saint Vincent College with 710 points, the highest point total by a runner-up since 2023 (Westminster-748). Washington & Jefferson College scored 697 to place third overall, while Hiram College totaled 298 to take fourth place. Rounding out the standings was Westminster in fifth place (235), Chatham University in sixth (213) and Allegheny College in seventh (150).
Men's Saturday Highlights
- Saint Vincent won its first of two events Saturday in the 1,650 free to open the evening session. Bearcat freshman William Schauss took first in 16:44.73, adding this title to the 500 free he won Thursday night.
- Another freshman won his second event of the weekend in the next race. Grove City freshman George Witte, who won the 200 free Friday, took first in the 200 back Saturday night.
- Saint Vincent's Jacob Dzurica concluded his final PAC Championship meet with another record and championship victory. In the morning prelims of the 100 free, Dzurica raced a PAC-record and Pool record time of 43.96 seconds, which is also an NCAA "B" Cut time. He followed that up in the finals by winning the event in a time of 44.07, his second win after he also won the 50 free Thursday.
- Grove City was back on top of the podium in the next event when junior Bryce Pope won the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.93.
- Grove City senior Logan Myers took first in the 200 fly, adding it to his earlier win in the 400 IM.
- The final relay and event of the men's championships was won by Grove City, whose time of 3:03.52 was nearly six seconds faster than the runner-up.
Award Winners
- Following his PAC titles in the 500 and 1,650 freestyles, Saint Vincent's Schauss was voted as the PAC Newcomer of the Year.
- Grove City junior Owen Hancock, who won PAC titles while setting conference records in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 100 back, earned PAC Swimmer of the Year.
- After sweeping both diving titles for the second year in a row, W&J's sophomore Zach Lloyd collected PAC Diver of the Year for the second straight season.
- After coaching Lloyd to his PAC honor, W&J's Josh Vasko was named the PAC Diving Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
- Josh Gurekovich, who has been the Saint Vincent swimming coach since the program's inception in 2004, was named the PAC Men's Coach of the Year for the first time in his tenure following the Bearcats' runner-up finish.
