LATROBE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)- Saint Vincent College and Athletic Director D.P. Harris has announced staffing changes within the women's tennis program. Long time Saint Vincent coach Jym Walters has once again been named the head coach of the women's tennis program.

Former Head Coach Brian Niemiec will remain the head coach of the men's program, while staying on as an assistant for the women's program.

"We are very grateful of the leadership that both Jym and Brian bring to the school and the tennis program," Harris said. "We are so happy to welcome Jym back into a role where we know he will succeed and continue a strong tradition of Saint Vincent tennis. Jym embodies what it means to be a Bearcat and a member of the Saint Vincent College community, and we are excited to see what he will bring to the future of the Saint Vincent women's tennis program."

Walters, a 1996 graduate of Saint Vincent, returns to being the leader of the program after serving as the head coach from 2014-2017. He remained on staff as an assistant for the last eight seasons. Most recently, he served as the head women's lacrosse coach from 2012-2023.

"I am very much looking forward to getting back with the great group of student-athletes that we have returning," Walters said. "I want to thank Father Paul (Taylor), Dr. (Jeff) Mallory, and D.P. (Harris) for allowing me the opportunity to lead the program once again. I am looking forward to continuing to build the program with Brian Niemiec as well."

Walters was named the PAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2016 after leading the Bearcats to a 7-1 conference record.

The winningest coach in Saint Vincent College women's lacrosse history, Walters retired from the position following the 2024 campaign after amassing a career record of 106-83.

Prior to joining the Saint Vincent coaching staff, Walters had a successful tenure as head field hockey and girls' lacrosse coach at Greater Latrobe High School.

Walters also organizes a variety of student recreation functions and activities and serves as adviser of Saint Vincent's Student Government Association and the Outdoors Club. He also spearheads the annual "SVC 48 in 48" trip. Devised by Walters in 2022, SVC 48 in 48 is an initiative in which he and a group of students drive across the U.S. to visit Saint Vincent College alumni in 48 states over 48 days from mid-May through early July.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Brian Niemiec, the Bearcats concluded the 2024-25 campaign with a program record 18 regular season wins. Junior Carolina Walters was named the Presidents Athletic Conference Player of the Year, going undefeated over the course of the season.

SVC won all five of their matches during the 2025 spring season as well.
