USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams Recognize PAC Programs, Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. (pacathletics.org) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 204-25 All-Academic Athletes and All-Academic Teams, which was highlighted by 12 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) programs, as well as 14 individuals. 

Among the 12 programs included were seven women's teams, which featured four PAC schools ranked in the top 60. Saint Vincent College's 3.81 team GPA led the way for conference porgams, ranking third among the 205 Division III schools on the list. Additonally, Waynesburg University (3.68) ranked 23rd, Allegheny College (3.62) placed 51st and Bethany College (3.61) was 60th among Division III programs.

Five men's programs earned All-Academic Team recognition, with Franciscan University pacing PAC programs, ranking 45th among 169 programs honored with a 3.44 cumulative GPA.


Here is the criteria for a team to be named an NCAA Division III All-Academic Team:
Cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter, computed by the following method:
        *Total the cumulative number of semester hours or quarter hours earned for all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility, including the most recent grading period;
        *Total the cumulative number of quality points (GPA multiplied by the number of credit hours) earned by all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility, including the most recent grading period;
        *Divide the cumulative number of quality points earned by the cumulative number of semester or quarter hours earned.
        *Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale than 4.0 then must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar.
Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.

The 14 individuals recognized as All-Academic Athletes were outstanding in competition as well as the classroom throughout both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Individually and as part of relay teams, the group combined to have a hand in seven outdoor PAC event titles and 11 indoor championships. Westminster's Madison Conley and Breannda Davis qualified for both indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships. Both earned First Team All-American at Outdoor Championships, with Conley taking fifth in the pole vault and Davis earning seventh in the high jump.

A duo from Allegheny who earned All-Academic Athlete also qualified for NCAA Outdoor Championships. In the hammer throw, Laila Davis earned Second Team All-American by finishing in ninth place, while Chloe Bonson qualified and competed in the 5,000-meter run.

For a student-athlete to earn All-Academic Athlete status, they must meet the following criteria: 
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar.
Meet one of the following athletic criteria:
- M
ust have finished the indoor or outdoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor OR Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
- Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
- Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.
