NFCA All-Region Teams Include Six from PAC 5/19/2025 1:15:00 PM LOUISVILLE, Ky. (pacathletics.org) - When the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III All-Region VII Teams were recently announced, six players from Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) programs were among those recognized following their performances in the 2025 season. Two players were First Team All-Region VII selections in Westminster College freshman pitcher Cheyenne Piper (Latrobe, Pa./Ligonier Valley) and Geneva College sophomore outfielder Molly Shelley (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point). Collecting Second Team recognition was Westminster sophomore catcher Faith Jones (Volant, Pa./Wilmington), Geneva junior shortstop Lexi Zanic (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) and Bethany College graduate student outfielder Destiny Goodnight (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline). Saint Vincent College freshman third base Josey Michalski (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) rounded out the honorees with her Third Team selection. The PAC Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year, Piper is Westminster's first all-region first team selection since Jazmyn Rohrer in 2018. A right-handed pitcher, Piper finished her freshman season with a 17-6 record and 1.71 earned-run average (ERA) in 20 starts (26 appearances). She fired 17 complete games with a school-record nine shutouts in 147.0 innings pitched. Piper's 168 strikeouts rank third among the program's all-time leaders while her 17 victories are tied for fourth-most in program history. Piper played a key role in the Titans repeating as PAC champions, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team and earned Most Outstanding Player honors following this year's PAC Tournament after going 3-0 with three shutouts, 13 strikeouts and three walks over 19.0 innings pitched. Shelley is the first Geneva and PAC player to earn First Team All-Region since Sarah Johnson in 2023. She has a PAC-leading 44 stolen bases this year while being caught just once, and also led the conference with 63 hits, 58 runs scored, a Geneva single-season record, a .741 slugging percentage and tied for the PAC-high with seven triples. Shelley leads the Golden Tornadoes into this week's NCCAA World Series with a .429 batting average as well as six home runs, 14 doubles and 30 RBIs. Jones was the First Team All-PAC catcher prior to adding the All-Region award to her honors. She hit .412 in 38 starts this year to go along with nine doubles, two triples, 33 RBIs and 28 runs scored. She has 13 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games this year. Jones posted a .444 on-base percentage, a .521 slugging percentage and .965 OPS. Zanic was recently named the PAC Player of the Year for her performance this year where she is batting .411 with a .478 on-base percentage, which included a .556 on-base in PAC games, the highest by any player in the league. An offensive catalyst, she also stole 18 bases, tied for second in the PAC with 44 runs scored, ranked third with 22 walks and hit a conference-high seven sacrifice flies. Zanic is also one of the top defensive shortstops in the region. Goodnight's All-Region selection is the first for a Bethany player since 2016. She was fifth in the PAC with a .424 batting average on the season, while her 61 hits, 44 runs scored and 35 stolen bases were second in the PAC. A four-time All-PAC selection in her career, including First Team laurels this year, Goodnight finished her career as the program's leader with 92 stolen bases. By earning All-Region, Michalski is the first Bearcat to receive that recognition since Alex Dillner in 2023. She had a big freshman campaign at the plate, leading Saint Vincent with 36 RBIs, while recording a .396 batting average and racking up two home runs as well. Michalski also led SVC with 42 hits, which included 13 doubles and also scored 29 runs. The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 28 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Bloomington, Ill.
