BETHANY, W.Va. (pacathletics.org) - Bethany College Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller has announced the hiring of Lexi Buck as the head softball coach, effective immediately.

The now-head ball coach is a familiar face to the team. Buck has served as the assistant of a very successful Bison softball team for the past two seasons.

Buck helped the team start off 15-0 in 2025, establishing a new record for the best start in Bethany Softball history. Buck also served as the first base coach to a team that broke the single season stolen base record. They swiped 129 bags as a team last spring.

Windmiller expressed her undoubted belief in Buck's ability to command an elite squad.

"Lexi Buck has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and a deep commitment to our student-athletes throughout her time with the program, said Windmiller. "She will only strengthen the team culture she was a part of building during the last two years, and is well-positioned to build on our momentum. Lexi's energy, softball knowledge, and ability to connect with her players make her the right person to lead our program forward. I'm excited to see her take this next step and continue to elevate Bethany softball."

Buck was familiar with the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) prior to becoming a graduate assistant at Bethany. A two-time All-PAC selection in her playing days, Buck held down shortstop for five years at Grove City College.

Immediately after graduation, Buck found herself trading in the crimson red for Bethany Bison green. She hasn't looked back since.

"I am truly grateful to step into the role of head coach and continue the momentum we have built over the past few seasons," said Buck. "Being part of the Bison softball program has been such a rewarding experience, and I am proud of the players and the culture we have created together. I am excited for the opportunity to lead this amazing group and look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year, both on and off the field."

During the time Buck has been a part of the Bethany softball staff, the team put together two 25+ win seasons. In each year, Bethany secured a playoff bid and they return two All-PAC selections in 2026 in Emma Jackson and Brooke Markland.
