Historic Grove City Baseball Season Concludes 5/17/2025 8:25:00 PM ALLIANCE, Ohio (pacathletics.org) - The Grove City College baseball team concluded its record-setting season Saturday by dropping a 10-0 decision at Mount Union in an elimination game of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Saturday's loss came after the Wolverines (31-13) dropped their opening game Friday by a 9-1 count against Rowan University at the NCAA Regional, which was hosted by Mount Union. In Friday's game, Rowan (32-10) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, then added a run in the second and two more runs in the fourth inning. Grove City broke through in the seventh inning when sophomore third baseman Sam Bevin (Louisville, Ky./Wake County) singled in freshman pinch runner Braeden Coyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair). Bevin led Grove City by going 3-for-5. Junior first baseman Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) and freshman shortstop Sam Meredith (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) also singled. Senior pitcher David Leslie (Butler, Pa./Butler) pitched five innings and allowed six runs. Leslie (9-2) struck out four. Senior second baseman Luke Vittone (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) paced Grove City by going 3-for-5, while senior right fielder Josh Minnich (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added a pair of hits. Grove City left nine runners on base Saturday, as the Wolverines went 0 for 5 with men in scoring position. Grove City also stranded nine men on base Friday in its tournament opener against Rowan. Sophomore pitcher Bryce Trischler (Mars, Pa./Shady Side Academy) started and yielded four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. Trischler (6-3) struck out four men and allowed nine hits. It was a historic season for the Wolverines. Grove City won a program-record 31 games, breaking the mark of 30 wins set in 2023. Grove City won its first Presidents' Athletic Conference title since 2008, and this year's NCAA Tournament appearance marked the second in program history and the first since 2008.
