PAC Players Honored with Baseball All-America, All-Region Honors 6/4/2025 3:15:00 PM TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Following the completion of the 2025 season, eight players from Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) baseball programs were among those recognized when the Americans Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com announced their All-Region and All-America teams. Two players earned All-America accolades from both organizations, with Washington & Jefferson College senior pitcher Dante DiMatteo (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) being a D3baseball First Team selection and ABCA Third Team pick, while Grove City College senior pitcher David Leslie (Butler, Pa./Butler) garnered Fourth Team recognition from both groups. The final All-America honor went to Grove City sophomore utility Sam Bevin (Louisville, Ky./Wake County), who earned Fourth Team from D3baseball. The list of PAC players on All-Region teams was lengthy, with five earning D3baseball.com awards and the ABCA recognized eight players. DiMatteo highlighted the D3baseball honorees by being named the Region 7 Pitcher of the Year as well as First Team All-Region. Four others were voted Second Team All-Region 7, including Bevin, Leslie, Grove City senior second baseman Luke Vittone (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) and W&J senior shortstop Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y./Canisius). Highlighting the ABCA All-Region 7 team was DiMatteo, Leslie and Vittone earning First Team, while Bevin, LaDuca and Grove City junior first baseman Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) were chosen for Second Team. Completing the list of PAC honorees was Thiel College junior catcher Calvin Cackowski (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) and Allegheny College senior outfielder Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel-Texas) collecting Third Team laurels. DiMatteo finished 9-0 with a 0.83 earned run average and 68 strikeouts in 65.1 innings on the season, as he became the first W&J hurler to gather D3baseball.com Region Pitcher of the Year since Henry Litman in 2021. The senior right-hander for the Presidents holds the second-best ERA in all NCAA Divisions (I, II, III). DiMatteo held opposing batters to a .200 batting average with six earned runs given up all season. Leslie went 9-2 with a 2.05 earned run average in 12 starts for Grove City. He struck out 84 batters in 74 2/3 innings while allowing only 46 hits and 24 walks. Leslie held opponents to a .178 batting average. He led the PAC in victories, strikeouts and batting average against while ranking third in ERA. Bevin hit .370 this season and led the Wolverines with seven home runs. He shared the team and league lead with 67 hits while driving in 43 runs. His 50 runs scored ranked third on the team. As a pitcher, Bevin compiled a 4-1 record, along with a 1.87 ERA. He allowed only 41 hits and six walks in 43 1/3 innings while striking out 29 men this year. Vittone finished second on the team with six home runs and 48 runs batted in. His 48 RBIs ranked second in the conference while his seven sacrifice flies led the loop. Vittone hit .319 this year while becoming the program's all-time leader in runs scored (156), hits (205), games played (166) and total bases (314). Now a four-time All-PAC selection, LaDuca slashed .353/.532/.467 with 55 hits, 14 doubles, four home runs, 24 RBIs, 16 steals and 28 walks. The 2024 PAC Player of the Year finished fifth in the conference this season in runs scored (49), tied for ninth in hits (55), tied for fourth in doubles (14) and third in walks (28). This season's PAC Player of the Year, Marinpetro led Grove City with a .409 batting average this season. He belted a program-record 67 hits, which included 17 doubles to lead the conference in both categories. His 52 runs scored ranked second in the conference, as did his 97 total bases and his .522 on-base percentage. Cackowski slugged a conference-leading .662, which was nearly 50 percentage points higher than the next closest player. Cackowski finished third in the PAC in total bases (88) and doubles (15) while placing fourth in OPS (1.088) and eighth in RBIs (37) and sat in the top 25 in batting (.346). Bryant-Dawson earned the honor as an outfielder after batting .353 with 49 hits, a team-high seven home runs, and 32 RBIs. His .604 slugging percentage ranked third in the PAC, while his seven homers tied for third. He reached base safely in 34 consecutive games to start the season and in 36 of 38 games played.
