ABCA Team Academic Excellence Awards Go to Seven PAC Programs

GREENSBORO, N.C. (pacathletics.org) – The 2025 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Awards, presented by Sports Attack, were announced July 23rd and seven Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) baseball programs were recognized for academic achievement.

Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2024-25 academic year.

The seven teams from the PAC to earn the honor included Allegheny College; Chatham University; Saint Vincent College; Thiel College; Washington & Jefferson College; Waynesburg University and Westminster College.

This year's award is the 10th consecutive straight season Thiel, under head coach Joe Schaly, has been recognized by the ABCA, while Washington & Jefferson and head coach Jeff Mountain have earned the Academic Excellence Award five years in a row.

Saint Vincent, guided by head coach Mick Janosko, and head coach Patrick Riley's Westminster program have been recognized four straight years, while this is the third consecutive year Chatham and head coach Nic Rush have earned ABCA academic laurels.

This marks the second time overall Allegheny, skippered by Brandon Crum, has earned an ABCA Team Academic Award, while head coach Michael Impellittiere and Waynesburg gathered their first ABCA recognition.

This year, 440 college programs and nearly 300 high school programs were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement, as the ABCA continued its long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes.
