TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Top-seeded Allegheny College and second seed Grove City College both posted 4-0 sweeps Thursday in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Tennis Semifinals and will face off in the Tournament Championship Match Saturday at 3 pm at Allegheny.

Two-time defending champion Allegheny (19-6) advanced to their third straight final with a sweep over Saint Vincent (16-5). The Gators collected 6-1 wins at second doubles from freshman Arick Baldwin (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood) and freshman Olivier Erkens (Gouda, Netherlands/Coornhert Gymnasium) and at third doubles from junior Benedek Kaibas (Salgótarján, Hungary/Mikszáth Kálmán Gimnázium) and freshman Levente Mihaly (Békéscsaba, Hungary/Békéscsabai SZC Széchenyi István) to clinch the point in doubles and take a 1-0 lead into singles.

Action in singles quickly went Allegheny's way, with straight-set wins at the top three positions. Posting 6-0, 6-0 victories was freshman Kristian Janci (Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia/The British International School Shanghai) at No. 1 and senior Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) at No. 2. The final win came at third singles, where Mihaly was a 6-0, 6-1 winner.

In the other semifinal, Grove City (11-4) won at first and third doubles to take the lead against Franciscan (10-7). The initial win was the tandem of senior Nathan Clark (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and freshman Kiser Swain (Frisco, Texas/Omar Trevino) by a 6-1 count at third doubles, while the duo of junior Benjamin Jones (Clayton, N.C. Clayton) and freshman Allen Morris (Perry, Ohio/Perry) were 6-3 winners at No. 1.

The Wolverines' spot in the championship match was clinched with three singles wins. Already up a set at fifth singles, freshman Garrett Ranney (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) won by retirement, which was followed by a 6-0, 6-4 triumph by Morris at second singles. The last win that propelled Grove City into the final came at No. 6 where sophomore Eric Jordan (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) logged a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Allegheny won the regular season meeting at Grove City by a 7-0 score on April 3rd.
