HIRAM, Ohio (pacathletics.org) – Hiram Athletics promoted interim head coach Macy Roell to the full-time position with the Terriers women's volleyball program. Roell, who was named PAC Coach of the Year on Nov. 18, led Hiram to its most wins in over a decade (26) this past season.
"Coach Roell thrived this past season in the interim role," Hiram Director of Athletics Scott Pohlman said. "We are excited to have her return and lead the program to continued success in a full-time position moving forward."
Roell finished her second season on the Hiram coaching staff this past month, serving as an assistant coach in 2024 before moving to interim head coach in 2025, which marked the program's return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Roell made a statement and lifted the Terriers to new heights throughout the fall, helping the roster to its most conference wins in program history (15) and a perfect home record (10-0) during the regular season. Hiram won both of its matches against the preseason No. 1 team, Allegheny, while also picking up at least one victory against every other team in the talented conference, including Westminster (3-0) and Grove City (2-1).
"Our program consistently performed at a high level under Coach Roell," Pohlman said. "Her recruiting efforts over the past two seasons also stood out in helping us reach this decision."
Individually, Hiram totaled nine PAC Athlete of the Week selections, four All-PAC honorees and Kelly Hoffman, the PAC Player of the Year. Hoffman, along with other notable student-athletes like Brooke Fishback, Sofia Smotek, Megan Chiang, and Maggie Riley, fueled the Terriers to PAC-leading marks in points/set (16.28), kills/set (13.13), assists/set (12.08) and digs/set (21.42).
The Terriers advanced to their first conference tournament championship game since 2018 before falling to Grove City inside Price Gymnasium. Despite the loss, Roell and the team produced a resume worthy of the NCAA Tournament.
Roell will now prepare for the 2026 season, where Hiram will have a number of key returners and high expectations to make another run in the PAC.
