TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its All-PAC women's volleyball teams and conference award winners for the 2025 season Tuesday evening, which were determined through voting by the league's 12 head coaches.
The PAC Sports Network first unveiled the All-PAC teams and award winners during a selection show broadcast.
Headlining the top award winners was Hiram College senior setter Kelly Hoffman being voted as the PAC Player of the Year. The conference's Defensive Player of the Year award went to Chatham University senior libero Sierra Ricci, while earning PAC Newcomer of the Year was Franciscan University freshman outside hitter Logan Hickey. Collecting PAC Coach of the Year honors was Hiram head coach Macy Roell.
Hoffman is the first setter to win the PAC Player of the Year award since Daphne Hunsinger from Geneva College earned the honor in 2019. She is also the fifth Hiram player to win a conference Player of the Year honor and first since Marissa Jay was named the North Coast Athletic Conference's (NCAC) top player in 2016. With Hoffman running the balanced offense, the Terriers had three players ranked in the top eight in the league in kills., as the senior led the PAC in assists (1,070) and assists per set (10.09). Hoffman posted five matches with 50 or more assists, highlighted by passing out 59 in the PAC Tournament semifinal win over Westminster.
In addition to her work on offense, Hoffman's defensive ability helped Hiram lead the conference with 22.0 digs per set and limit teams to a .121 hitting percentage in PAC matches. Her 503 digs ranked fifth in the conference at 4.75 per set, making her the only setter to appear among the league’s top 20. Hoffman also helped the Terriers with her serve, delivering 32 aces during the year.
Ricci's recognition as the Defensive Player of the Year marks the first time a Chatham player has earned the accolade. She not only leads the PAC but also ranks first in the country with 7.15 digs per set, while placing fourth in Division III with 636 total digs. Ricci amassed 24 digs or more in a match 16 times during the year, which helped the Cougars hold teams to a conference-low .112 hitting percentage in PAC matches. Ricci also added 33 aces, with 26 of those coming against PAC opposition.
Hickey is the first Franciscan player to earn the Newcomer of the Year recognition after being tabbed as one of the top hitters in the conference. She led the PAC with 528 points to rank in the top 10 nationally. Hickey's 468 kills was first in the PAC and 10th in all of Division III, while her 4.82 kills per set is sixth in the nation. She posted 13 matches with 20+ kills during the season, which included the final six contests of the season. Her high for the year was when she put down a school-record 29 kills in a 3-2 victory over eventual PAC champion Grove City College on Nov. 1.
A complete six-rotation player, Hickey also brought up 323 digs, which ranked 15th in the league. In addition, she was second on the team with 30 aces and third on Franciscan with 42 blocks.
Roell earns the initial Coach of the Year award after her first season leading the Terriers. After spending 2024 as an assistant with Hiram, Roell was elevated to interim head coach in July. In addition to being her first season as the head coach, it was Hiram's first year in the PAC after being in the NCAC, where the Terriers made 24 consecutive conference tournament appearances. In their first year back in the PAC, Hiram went 15-1 in the North Division to earn the top overall seed in the PAC Tournament. The Terriers advanced to the title match and finished with a 26-3 overall record, the most wins by a Hiram team since going 26-8 in 2012.
By capturing this year's tournament championship, Grove City earned the PAC's automatic qualifying bid to the Division III Championship. The Wolverines will take on three-time defending champion Juniata College in the NCAA Tournament first round Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Virginia Wesleyan Regional. This is Grove City's sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since 1986.
The PAC also released its 2025 PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams.
