PAC Announces Women's Swimming and Diving All-Conference Squads 2/29/2024 2:00:00 PM TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released the 2023-24 All-PAC Women's Swimming and Diving teams Wednesday, 40 student-athletes being recognized for their efforts at February's PAC Championships. The all-conference swimming and diving teams are determined by a formula-based selection process using student-athletes' individual and relay finishes at the league’s annual championships. There were 19 student-athletes who earned First Team All-PAC, while 18 were named Second Team All-PAC and three were recognized with Honorable Mention status. After winning the PAC title on Feb. 17th, Grove City College placed a conference-leading 15 on the teams, including 10 who earned First Team accolades. Westminster College was next with nine All-PAC performers, followed by Saint Vincent College with eight, Allegheny College with four, Washington & Jefferson College had two and one each from Chatham University and Franciscan University. Grove City won its PAC-best 21st title earlier this month when the Wolverines scored 1,031.5 points over the four-day event to easily outdistance the field. Westminster finished second with 659.5 points, while Saint Vincent was third with 593. Coming in fourth was Franciscan with 337 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson (293), Allegheny (286), Chatham (211) and Bethany College (168). The First Team All-PAC squad is highlighted by Grove City senior Rachael Wallace (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell), who earned PAC Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row and third time overall. In addition to winning the top swimmer honor in 2023, Wallace also earned the award in 2021. Wallace's three honors in four years comes on the heels of Grove City's Anne Shirley Dassow winning four consecutive PAC Swimmer of the Year awards from 2017-2020. To capture her third top swimmer honor, Wallace earned first place in seven events overall, including three individual and four relays. Her individual wins came in the 200 Individual Medley, the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Butterfly, while she swam legs on the victorious 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, 400 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. Wallace's preliminary time of 55.54 seconds in the 100 Fly at PAC Championships surpassed the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time and she will be competing in the 2024 NCAA Championships March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Also earning a spot on First Team All-PAC was Saint Vincent freshman Rachel Hutchinson (Bryan, Texas/Bryan). The first-year Bearcat swimmer won PAC titles in the 500 and 1,650 Freestyles and earned a runner-up finish in the 400 Individual Medley, as she became the first Saint Vincent female swimmer to win the Newcomer award. Other multiple individual-event winners who were on First Team All-PAC included a pair of Allegheny swimmers and one other from Grove City. Allegheny senior Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) won PAC titles in the 50 Free and 100 Free and Gator sophomore Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) swept the 100 and 200 Breaststroke championships. For Grove City, freshman Ashley Rauhauser (York, Pa./Homeschooled) finished first in the 100 and 200 Backstrokes. Like the Swimmer of the Year, the PAC Diver of the Year winner won for the second consecutive year. Joining Wallace as a repeat winner was Grove City junior diver Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids). She claimed first on the three-meter board with an NCAA Regional Championship Qualifying score of 417.90, her second straight three-meter win, and she also finished as the runner-up in one-meter diving. Also earning their second consecutive conference awards were Grove City head coach Dave Fritz, who was named PAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Wolverines to their 15th title in the last 16 years, and Grove City's Fred Evanoff was voted as the Diving Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. The PAC also released its 2023-24 Women's Swimming & Diving Sportsmanship Team (linked above). The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.
