PAC Hitter of the Week

Ryan Dougherty • Allegheny • Senior outfielder • Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny Dougherty helped Allegheny sweep a doubleheader versus John Carroll on Sunday by hitting a team-high .625 with five hits, two runs, one RBI, and one stolen base from the lead-off spot … He went 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI in a 5-2 win in Game 1 … His four hits tied a single-game career-high, and his RBI drove in the tying run in the seventh, as the Gators bounced back from a 2-0 deficit …Dougherty singled and scored in the third inning of the nightcap, as the Gators once again came back from a 2-0 deficit with a four-run inning.

PAC Pitcher of the Week

Evan Umland • Grove City • Junior • Pasadena, Calif./La Canada Umland went 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA in two appearances ... He struck out 17 men in nine total innings, while walking one and allowing only six hits ... Saturday, Umland struck out 12 over seven innings in a 9-1 win over Carthage in Auburndale, Fla. ... Four days prior, he struck out five in two innings of scoreless relief in a season-opening 19-5 win over Penn State-Shenango.

PAC Newcomer of the Week

Jack Houston • Grove City • Freshman pitcher • Vienna, Va./Vienna   Houston went 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA in two appearances last week ... Saturday, he made his first collegiate start and threw five no-hit innings in a win over Houghton ... Houston earned the relief win in the season opener Tuesday against Penn State-Shenango by allowing one earned run in three innings ... He allowed only three hits total in eight innings while striking out six.

PAC Records & Milestones

After suffering a season-ending injury in his second appearance of 2023, Allegheny senior reliever Preston Pierce returned to save both games in the season-opening sweep of John Carroll to tie his single-season career-high save total in one day ... Bethany OF Payton Zupko hit a walk-off, two-run homer to lift the Bison to a 5-3 win over Pitt-Bradford Sunday in game one of their twinbill.
