Week 9 PAC Honors (for games played April 17-23)
The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 9 of the 2023 season.
 
PAC Hitter of the Week
Nolan Lutz • Washington & Jefferson • Junior first base/designated hitter • McDonald, Pa./South Fayette
Lutz finished with five hits, totaled 11 bases, knocked in three and scored two runs in a doubleheader sweep over Bethany on Friday … In a 7-4 win in game one, he was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, scored twice and drove in a pair … Two of Lutz’s three hits in the nightcap were doubles and he had one RBI, as the Presidents completed the sweep with a 2-1 victory.

Allegheny sophomore Brady Nolin (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) helped Gators go 4-0 last week by slashing .375/.421/.813, highlighted by going 4-for-5 with two triples, a homer, three runs scored and six RBIs in game-two win over Waynesburg … Chatham junior Jake Bredl (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a stolen base in the win over Oberlin … After cracking a two-run double in the sixth inning of game two against Saint Vincent to give Grove City a 6-5 lead, Wolverine sophomore Shane Cato (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) hit a two-run homer in the eighth to provide the winning margin in a 9-8 victory … Thiel sophomore Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) was 4-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs in the win over Waynesburg … Waynesburg sophomore Seth Burgdolt (Taylorstown, Pa./McGuffey) hit .333 (5-15) with a double, home run, three RBIs and four runs scored over four games … Westminster junior Chase Tomko (Hermitage, Pa./West Middlesex) highlighted a 10-9 come-from-behind win in game two against Franciscan by hitting an eighth-inning grand slam to cut the deficit to one and then hit a go-ahead RBI single in the ninth to put the Titans in front for good.
   
PAC Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Horvat • Washington & Jefferson • Senior • Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford  
Horvat tossed a complete game two-hitter in a 2-1 game two win over Bethany on Friday … The senior right hander picked up his ninth win of the season, which is currently tied for the most in NCAA D-III this season … Horvat allowed one run on two hits in nine innings of work and struck out eight in the victory.

Allegheny senior Conor Deasy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) logged career-highs with eight innings and 11 strikeouts in a 3-2 win over Waynesburg, as he allowed only one earned run on four hits … Bethany junior Trey Mantle (Groveport, Ohio/Groveport-Madison) threw six innings in game two against W&J and allowed one run on four hits with three Ks, including the 100th of his career … Chatham graduate student Zack Oddi (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) earned the win over Oberlin after he struck out five and allowed just two runs in five innings … Grove City senior Tate Ostrowski (Essex, Mass./Covenant Christian) struck out 10 in eight innings while allowing three runs on five hits in 9-4 win over Saint Vincent, the 24th of his career to take sole possession of second place on Grove City’s career wins list … Thiel freshman Nathan Doutt (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) went six innings in a loss to Waynesburg, allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts … Westminster sophomore Jake Vitale (New Castle, Pa./Union) threw six scoreless innings in an 18-0 win over Franciscan, allowing five hits and striking out nine to even his record at 3-3 this season.
 
PAC Rookie of the Week
JT Gerle • Thiel • Freshman infielder • Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge  
Gerle went 4-for-8 (.500) in the doubleheader against Waynesburg last week, the Tomcats’ only action of the week … He hit a pair of singles in the first games, then went 2-for-4 again in game two … Gerle also scored two runs, knocked in two runs and stole a base in game two, as Thiel won a wild 15-14 decision over Waynesburg to gain a split of the twinbill … His RBI single drove in the initial run in the Tomcats’ four-run ninth inning, as they rallied for the win.

Allegheny freshman Nick Banez (Edmonds, Wash./Meadowdale) had a single, stole a base and scored a run in game-two victory over Geneva and swiped another base in game-two win over Waynesburg … Geneva freshman Kirk Bearjar (Summerhill, Pa./Forest Hills) earned a complete-game, seven-inning victory against Medaille in his first career start on the mound while also going 2-for-7 at the plate with two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases in the twinbill … Waynesburg freshman Dalton Lucey (Holbrook, Pa./West Greene) posted an eight-inning complete game against Allegheny, allowing six hits and racking up five strikeouts.
