PAC Player of the Week

Matthew Lacek • Washington & Jefferson • Sophomore • McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry     Lacek fired a round of 74 to claim individual medalist honors Monday afternoon in the Westminster Invitational at the Avalon Field Club in New Castle … The individual title was the first of Lacek's collegiate career, as he won by two strokes … He also helped the Presidents finish first as a team by two shots with a score of 313, the second consecutive Invitational title for W&J this spring.

Grove City sophomore Adam Steinmetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took second at Westminster by shooting a 76 Monday … Thiel junior Tyler Zere (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) led the Tomcats at the Westminster Spring Invitational on Monday with a score of 89 to tie for 38th … Waynesburg senior Carter Newsome (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) carded a team-best 87 at Monday’s Westminster Spring Invitational … Westminster senior Cal Cummins (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) helped the Titans finish second at their Invitational with a four-over 76 to tie for second and was credited with third following a scorecard playoff.

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Brendan Cooley • Saint Vincent • Freshman • Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic   Cooley placed second individually at last Wednesday's Moravian Classic in the 12-team, 15-player field with a three-over 75, just one shot off the lead … Cooley's round consisted of two birdies and 11 pars, while he shot an even 36 on the back nine … On Monday at the Westminster Invitational, he was again SVC's top finisher, tying for 13th with a round of 82.

Grove City freshman Brian McDonnell (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) tied for 22nd with an 84 Monday at Westminster’s Spring Invitational … W&J freshman Andrew Platt (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) recorded a round of 84 to tie for 22nd Monday at Westminster’s Invitational … Waynesburg freshman Matthew Karpeal (Smithfield, Pa./Albert Gallatin) fired the low score of the day at the Bethany Quad Match April 5 with a 74 and then shot 88 Monday at Westminster’s Spring Invitational … Westminster freshman Ben Kelly (Vineland, Ontario/Blessed Trinity) tied for 50th by scoring 95 at their home invitational Monday.
