WARREN, Ohio (pacathletics.org) - Two-time defending champion Allegheny College has built a nine-shot advantage following the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Fall Men's Golf Championships, which the Gators will take into the spring championship rounds.
The 36-hole fall event was hosted by the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio. The men played two rounds at Avalon Lakes in Warren.
This year's PAC Championships features a 72-hole stroke play event, beginning with 36 holes played this fall and another 36 holes played Friday-Saturday, April 24-25, 2026 at Mill Creek Metroparks and the Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio. The women will play two rounds on the North Course, while the men will play a pair of rounds on the South Course.
Coming off consecutive PAC crowns, Allegheny sits atop the leaderboard again following this fall after consistent rounds of 300 Monday and 300 again on Tuesday to finish at 600, nine strokes ahead of second place Washington & Jefferson College (307-302/609) and 15 in front of third place Grove City College (303-311/614). As a team, the Gators made 22 birdies and three eagles during the opening 36 holes of the Tournament.
Two teams are tied for fourth place at 626 after the fall rounds, including Thiel College (322-304) and Westminster College (314-312), while Saint Vincent College is in sixth place at 630 (313-317). Rounding out the team leaderboard is Waynesburg University in seventh place (310-331/641), Bethany College in eighth (325-333/658), Geneva College in ninth (327-340/667) and Hiram College (336-332/668).
Topping the individual leaderboard is Grove City's Luke Gronbeck (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian). The Wolverine sophomore boosted his team into third place with two great rounds, which started Monday with a five-under, 67. Gronbeck went for eight birdies and seven pars in the round to match the lowest score at PACs since Allegheny's three-time champion Carter Hassenplug fired 67 to open the 2024 Fall Championships.
Gronbeck then played a steady 18 holes in Tuesday's second round, posting three birdies and 12 pars for an even-par, 72 and finished with a 36-hole total of 139. In the process, he became the first Grove City player to earn Fall Medalist since Cole McCook shared top player honors following the 2019 rounds and his -5 through the opening 36 holes was the lowest fall score since W&J's Colin Robinson went five-under, 139 in 2021.
Behind Gronbeck in second place and pacing the front-running Allegheny side is freshman Christopher Hoffman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), who scored 145 (73-72). Tied for third place with matching scores of 146 is Westminster junior Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton) and W&J sophomore Matthew Morelli (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock), while in fifth place after finishing at 147 (75-72) is Allegheny senior Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)).
The All-PAC teams, along with the PAC Players of the Year and PAC Newcomers of the Year, are determined by the combined 72-hole scores from the fall and spring championships. The All-PAC teams are made up of the top 15 overall scorers (5 first team, 5 second team, 5 honorable mention). The combined 72-hole team totals determine PAC team champions and winners of the league's automatic-qualifying bid to the Division III Championships.
The 2026 Division III Men's Championships are scheduled for May 12-15 at Mission Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
