TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) -- The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the 2022-23 All-PAC Women's Swimming and Diving teams Wednesday, with a total of 40 student-athletes awarded for their efforts at this February's PAC Championships.
The all-conference swimming and diving teams are determined by a formula-based selection process using student-athletes' individual and relay finishes at the league’s annual championships.
A total of 19 student-athletes earned a spot on the All-PAC First Team. There were 18 named to the All-PAC Second Team while three were recognized as All-PAC Honorable Mention.
Grove City College led the way with 16 All-PAC selections, including a league-high 12 on First Team. Saint Vincent College registered 10 honorees and was followed by Allegheny College and Westminster College with six each and Chatham University and Franciscan University with one apiece.
Grove City sewed up its fourth-straight PAC title and the program’s PAC-best 20th team title on February 18th. The Wolverines paced the eight-team field with 1,069 points, while Saint Vincent was the runner-up with 688 points. Westminster was third with 588 points, Allegheny finished in fourth with 466 and was followed by Franciscan (307), Chatham (167), Bethany (136) and Washington & Jefferson (127).
The conference championships were once again held at Grove City's James E. Longnecker Competition Pool. Longnecker Pool has been the home of the league’s championships since 1990.
PAC Swimmer of the Year honors went to Grove City senior Rachael Wallace (Hopewell, Pa. | Hopewell) while Wolverine sophomore Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich. | East Grand Rapids) earned the PAC's Diver of the Year award after winning both diving events. The PAC Newcomer of the Year distinction went to Franciscan freshman Katarina Antonov (Ocala, Fla. | Vanguard).
In winning the Swimmer of the Year award, Wallace won the 100 Fly and 200 Individual Medley at this year's championships, while also contributing to victories in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays, along with the 200 Free Relay.
Kerr swept both events on the boards to earn top diver honors in the conference. She won 3-meter diving with 402.15 points and recorded a winning sum of 408.55 points on the 1-meter board.
Antonov became the first Baron in program history to win an event at PAC Championships when she took first place in the 1650 Free. She broke the school record in the event with a time of 18:31.46, which gave her a PAC title to go along with her runner-up finish in the 500 Free at Championships.
For their efforts in helping the Wolverines to their 14th title in the last 15 seasons, Grove City head coach Dave Fritz earned Coach of the Year and diving coach Fred Evanoff merited the conference's Diving Coach of the Year honor.
