Grove City women claim PAC championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)--Grove City College won its first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships title since 2015 Friday night at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

Grove City totaled 133 points during the two-day, 19-event championship. Westminster College, last year's champion, was the runner-up with 131 points. 

It is Grove City's 12th team title. 

Washington & Jefferson College was third with 88 points. Geneva College finished fourth (87) and was followed by Waynesburg University in fifth (81), Chatham University in sixth (67), Thiel College in seventh (61), Franciscan University in eighth (41), Saint Vincent College in ninth (24) and Bethany College in 10th (18). 

Chatham first-year Aurielle Brunner (Altoona, Pa. | Bishop Guilfoyle) was voted the PAC’s Overall Most Outstanding Performer. She won the long jump with a mark of 5.52 meters (18-01.50) and registered a new PAC Championships meet record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.79 meters (38-08.25). She also finished second in the high jump (5-01.75, 1.60m), fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.91) and anchored the fourth-place 4x400-meter relay (4:12.46).

Brunner also collected the PAC's Newcomer of the Year award and the league's Most Outstanding Performer in the Field award.

Waynesburg senior Aubrey Wingerart (King George, Va. | King George) was named the league's Most Outstanding Performer on the Track after winning the 10000-meter run (39:13.76) and the 5000-meter run (18:08.16) and finishing third in the 1500-meter run (4:54.31).

Grove City's Jessica Smith earned the conference's Coach of the Year award.
