Westminster wins men's PAC title

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)--Westminster College earned its first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships title since 2016 Friday night at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

Westminster totaled 151 points during the two-day, 19-event championship event. Grove City College was the runner-up, finishing just two points behind first-place Westminster with 149 points. 

Four-time defending champion Geneva College was third (101) and was followed by Washington & Jefferson College in fourth (98), Franciscan University in fith (72), Saint Vincent College in sixth (47), Thiel College in seventh (41), Waynesburg University in eighth (37.50), Bethany College in ninth (29.50) and Chatham University in 10th (10).

Westminster junior Jacob Patton (Harrisville, Pa. | Moniteau) was voted the PAC’s Overall Most Outstanding Performer. He won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles with a PAC Championships meet record time of 53.28. He was the runner-up in the pole vault (3.52m, 11-06.50), was the fourth-place finisher in the javelin throw (48.90m, 160-05) and finished fifth in the triple jump (12.89m, 42-03.50). Patton ran the third leg of the winning 4x100-meter relay that posted a PAC Championships meet record time of 41.27 and ran the second leg of Westminster's winning 4x400 (3:21.52).

Patton was also honored as the Most Outstanding Performer on the Track. 

W&J sophomore Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Riverside) was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the Field. He won the high jump after clearing a school record 1.95 meters (6-04.75) and won the long jump with a top mark of 6.98 meters (22-11).

Geneva freshman Kevin Arseneaux (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) claimed the PAC Newcomer of the Year award. He posted runner-up finishes in the 800-meter run (1:53.76) and the 1500-meter run (3:58.89) while finishing third in the 5000-meter run (15:49.76).


Westminster head coach Tim McNeil was honored as the men's PAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career.
