Week 5 PAC Honors (for games played March 14-20)
The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 5 of the 2022 season.
 

PAC Hitter of the Week

Evan Sante • Washington & Jefferson • Junior outfielder • Pittsburgh, Pa. | Plum Sante hit .500 (10-of-20) last week for W&J… He had two doubles, slugged a pair of home runs and totaled 10 RBIs in five games for the Presidents… Sante posted a .500 on-base percentage and a .900 slugging percentage… He currently leads the PAC in home runs (3) and RBI (16).

Other notable performers from last week

Bethany senior Stefan Blackstone (Coraopolis, Pa. | Cornell) hit .625 with two doubles, three RBIs and and three runs scored in a 3-0 week against Pitt-Greensburg… Chatham junior Brandon Griener (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Brentwood) went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and a run scored at Juniata… Franciscan junior Brendan Burke (Pinckney, Mich. | Detroit Catholic Central) hit .385 with six RBIs and five runs scored last week… Grove City junior C.J. Saylor (Lancaster, Pa. | Hempfield) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of runs scored against La Roche… Thiel graduate student Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Baldwin) reached base four times and hit a two-run home run against Penn State Altoona Friday… He scored three runs in the win… Waynesburg freshman Todd Burner (Parkersburg, W.Va. | Parkersburg South) hit .333 with a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored last week… Westminster sophomore Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, Pa. | Central Valley) hit .450 with two doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and three runs scored last week.

   

PAC Pitcher of the Week

Tate Ostrowski • Grove City • Senior • Essex, Mass. | Covenant Christian     Ostrowski threw 7.1 shutout innings and allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out 10 in Wednesday’s 5-1 win over La Roche… Ostrowski is 2-0 with a 2.01 earned-run average this season.

Bethany sophomore Trey Mantle (Groveport, Ohio | Groveport Madison) earned the victory in Sunday’s game two win against Pitt-Greensburg, allowing two runs (1 earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts in the complete game effort… Chatham first-year Drew Schreck (Lodi, Ohio | Cloverleaf) three 3.0 innings of relief against Juniata, allowing one run (1 earned) on four hits… Geneva junior Jarrett Orbin (New Springfield, Ohio | Springfield) threw 6.0 innings in Saturday’s win over Penn State New Kensington, allowing two runs (0 earned) on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk… It was his first start of the season… Franciscan senior Ryan Neely (Steubenville, Ohio | Steubenville) earned the game one win against Albright Thursday, allowing two runs (0 earned) on three hits with seven strikeouts and a pair of walks in a complete-game effort… Thiel senior Richard Crooks (Milan, Ohio | Edison) worked 3.0 innings of relief to pick up his first win of the season Friday against Penn State Altoona… He allowed one run (1 earned) on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts…  W&J senior Jameson Campbell (Painesville, Ohio | Riverside) tossed 6.0 innings in Friday’s win over Benedictine, allowing two runs (2 earned) on five hits with a pair of strikeouts… Waynesburg senior Joe Sabolek (Lynnwood-Pricedale, Pa. | Belle Vernon) worked 6.0 innings in Sunday’s win over La Roche, allowing four runs (4 earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and a walk… Westminster junior Frankie Manios (Warren, Ohio | Howland) picked up his first victory of the season last Monday against Wells… He threw 6.0 innings and allowed three runs (3 earned) on six hits with a career-high four strikeouts.

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Matthew Randza • Westminster • Sophomore Outfielder • Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk      Randza, a first-year sophomore, hit .538 (7-13) with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored last week for Westminster… In Tuesday’s 14-3 game two loss against Suffolk, he went 3-for-3 and hit his first collegiate home run… In Friday’s 14-7 game two loss to Framingham State, Randza went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Chatham first-year Tyler Cote (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Hills) went 4-for-6 with a double and a stolen base Saturday at Juniata… Franciscan freshman Jonathan Perez (Tucson, Ariz. | Salpointe Catholic) secured the game two win against Albright Thursday, going 6.0 innings and allowing five runs (4 earned) on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts… Geneva freshman Jeff Hawkins (Severn, Md. | Mount Saint Joseph) threw 5.2 innings against Hilbert Thursday, allowing one run (1 earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks… Grove City freshman Nico Rodriguez (Stafford, Va. | Mountain View) went 2-for-4 with an RBI against La Roche… Thiel freshman Patrick Shirey (Worthington, Ohio | Thomas Worthington) went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base against Penn State Altoona… W&J freshman Scott Zaas (Powell, Ohio | Wellington School) slugged a pair of two run home runs last week for the Presidents… He raked a two-run shot Wednesday against No. 1 Marietta then added a two-run home run Saturday in game one against Beloit… Waynesburg freshman Bryce Bedilion (Clarksville, Pa. | Jefferson-Morgan) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs against La Roche.
