Week 9 PAC Honors (for events between October 24-30)
The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 9 of the 2022 season.
 

PAC Offensive Player of the Week

Maria Torres • Thiel • Sophomore outside hitter • Boardman, Ohio | Boardman  Torres helped lead Thiel to a 3-0 week and the top seed in this week’s PAC Championship Tournament… She hit .201 with 72 kills (4.80/s) while adding 64 digs (4.27/s), five service aces and five blocks... Torres ended the three-match stretch with a combined 79.5 points (5.30/s)... She recorded 27 kills, 18 digs, three assists and two service aces in a 3-2 win at Geneva on Tuesday… On Thursday, Torres tallied 31 kills, 29 digs and three service aces in a five-set win at Saint Vincent… Her 31 kills tied her for the second most in a match in PAC history and the most since Thiel’s Alyssa Chine also recorded 31 kills in a five-set win over Thomas More on October 11, 2011… On Saturday, Torres had 17 digs, 14 kills and four blocks in a five-set win over Allegheny at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium… She leads the PAC with 380 kills and 446 points… Torres’ 3.65 kills per set and 4.29 points per set averages rank second… She is sixth in the league with 43 service aces and 10th in hitting percentage (.201).

Other notable performers from last week

Allegheny senior Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn. | Girls Preparatory) totaled 34 kills (2.83/s) and eight blocks (0.67/s) last week… She posted 12 kills against Chatham Tuesday and at Grove City Thursday… Bethany junior Emma Marthins (Elkrige, Md. | Howard) hit .469 with 36 kills (3.60/s) and eight blocks (0.80/s) last week… She finished with 16 kills and three blocks Tuesday against W&J… Chatham junior Amelia Bogovich (Forest Hills, Pa. | Serra Catholic) hit .220 with 29 kills (4.14/s) and 11 digs (1.57/s) last week… She had 16 kills and five digs at Allegheny Tuesday… Geneva senior Hope Shook (Bellwood, Pa. | Bellwood-Antis) had double-digit kills in all three matches last week, totaling 38 kills (3.45/s) and including a season-best 17 at Saint Vincent Saturday… Grove City senior Faith Keating (Troy, Mich. | Troy) posted 23 kills (2.09/s) and 60 digs (5.45/s) in a 3-0 week… She also surpassed the 1,500-dig mark for her career… Saint Vincent senior Carly Augustine (Latrobe, Pa. | Greater Latrobe) recorded triple-doubles in three-straight matches last week… She is sixth in Division III with six triple-doubles… Augustine finished the week with 31 kills (2.21/s), 86 assists (6.14/s) and 69 digs (4.93/s)... Westminster junior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa. | Freeport) had 30 kills (2.73/s) and 51 digs (4.64/s) last week… She finished with 11 kills and 20 digs against W&J Thursday.

 

PAC Defensive Player of the Week

Malia Duffy • Westminster • Junior libero • Allison Park, Pa. | North Allegheny   Duffy finished Westminster’s 2-1 week with 87 digs (7.91/s)... In a five-set loss at Grove City Tuesday she registered a career-high 44 digs… The 44 digs are the third most by a PAC player this season… She had 20 digs in a straight-set win over W&J Thursday before posting 23 digs in a three-set victory over Franciscan Saturday… Duffy’s 505 digs rank sixth in the league while her 5.12 digs per set average ranks eighth.

Allegheny junior India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio | Hilliard Davidson) finished the week with 19 total blocks (1.58/s)... She had nine blocks at Thiel Saturday… McCruter’s 127 total blocks and 1.31 blocks per set average lead the PAC… Chatham junior Meghan Dominek (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Hills) totaled 55 digs (7.86/s) last week, including 35 against Allegheny Tuesday… It was her fourth match with 30-plus digs this season… Franciscan sophomore Sara Moore (Davis, Ill. | Durand) recorded 96 digs (8.73/s) last week… She had a season-high 41 digs Tuesday against Saint Vincent… Geneva senior Maggie Townsend (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Beaver County Christian) had 72 digs (6.00/s) last week and finished her career with 1,494 digs, the seventh-most in program history… Grove City junior Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa. | Butler) had 67 digs (6.09/s) last week… She had a career-high 35 digs Tuesday against Westminster and capped the week with 18 digs Saturday at Waynesburg… Saint Vincent junior Luciana Polk (Pittbsurgh, Pa. | Mount Lebanon) had 83 digs (5.93/s) and seven blocks (0.50/s) last week… Saturday against Geneva she finished with 36 digs… Thiel sophomore Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas | Mineral Ridge) posted 98 digs (6.53/s) and four service aces last week… She had 37 digs Tuesday at Geneva… She went over 1,000 career digs Saturday against Allegheny and currently leads the PAC in both digs (738) and digs per set (6.36).

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Alyssa Leskovac • Chatham • First-year outside hitter • Youngstown, Ohio | Austintown Fitch Leskovac hit .181 with 32 kills (4.57/s) and totaled 19 digs (2.71/s) during Chatham’s 2-0 week… She finished the week with 34.5 points (4.93/s)... Leskovac posted a match-high 18 kills and added nine digs and a pair of blocks in Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Allegheny… In Saturday’s straight-set win over Bethany, Leskovac finished with a match-best 14 kills, 10 digs and a block… Her 4.00 kills per set and 4.41 points per set averages lead the PAC… Her 348 total kills and 384 total points ranks second.

Allegheny freshman Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico | Gallatin [Tenn.]) finished with 53 digs (4.42/s) and four service aces last week, posting 20 digs at Chatham Tuesday and at Thiel Saturday… Franciscan freshman Gabrielle Disselkamp (Cox’s Creek, Ky. | Bethlehem) had 46 kills (4.18/s), 45 digs (4.09/s) and five service aces last week… She had a career-high 24 kills Tuesday against Saint Vincent and leads the league with 52 service aces… Grove City freshman Bella Costa (Newbury, Ohio | Cuyahoga Valley Christian) had 25 kills (2.50/s) and 19 digs (1.90/s) last week… She posted nine kills and a career-best five services against Allegheny Thursday… Saint Vincent freshman Lauren Fox (Hinckley, Ohio | Highland) totaled 17 kills (1.21/s) and 18 total blocks (1.29/s) last week… She had four kills and a career-high nine blocks Tuesday at Franciscan… Thiel freshman Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio | Beaver Local) finished the week with 103 assists (6.87/s) and 27 digs (1.80/s)... Thursday at Saint Vincent she totaled 42 assists and nine digs… Waynesburg freshman Emily Stutzman (Chambersburg, Pa. | Chambersburg) had seven kills and a block Thursday at Bethany… Westminster first-year Ella Stewart (Meadville, Pa. | Meadville) had 23 kills (2.09/s) and 46 digs (4.18/s) last week… Tuesday at Grove City she posted career highs in kills (9) and digs (24).
