WASHINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--Top-seeded Grove City College secured a 5-0 decision over No. 3 Franciscan University Saturday afternoon in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament title match. 

It is Grove City's PAC-best 28th men's tennis title. 

Saturday's championship match utilized the nine-point team format with matches played to decision (first team to 5 individual match wins). The match was hosted by Washington & Jefferson College at its on-campus Janet Swanson Tennis Center, which has served as the home site for the Presidents’ teams since 2015. This year's PAC Championship Tournament features a six-team championship bracket format. Seeding was determined and approved by a vote of the league's directors of athletics.  

Grove City junior Karsten Lagerquist (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Fox Chapel) and freshman Jack Booker (Indianapolis, Ind. | Heritage Christian) earned an 8-1 win at No. 1 singles while the No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Ryne Talko (Cresson, Pa. | Bishop Guilfoyle) and freshman Jameson Sposato (Frewsburg, N.Y. | Frewsburg) picked up an 8-5 victory. The freshman pairing of Collier Kaufman (Lowell, Mich. | Lowell) and Michael Odrey (New Kensington, Pa. | Valley) claimed an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. 

Odrey won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles before Lagerquist ended the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. 

As the winner of this year's PAC Championship Tournament, Grove City will receive the conference's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The field for this year’s Division III Championship is scheduled to be announced Monday, May 10 with first, second and third rounds slated for Friday-Sunday, May 14-16.
