Westminster women claim PAC championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)-- Westminster College won its first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships title since 2012 Friday night at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

The pole vault competition was postponed due to safety concerns, and will take place Saturday, May 1 at Grove City College. 


Westminster totaled 190 points during the two-day, 19-event championship event.

Washington & Jefferson College was the runner-up with 110.75 points. Geneva College was third with 82 points and was followed by Waynesburg University in fourth (74), host Bethany College in fifth (65), Grove City in sixth (59.50), Thiel College in seventh (58), Chatham University in eighth (29.75) and Franciscan University in ninth (29). 

Westminster senior Selena Thomas (Farrell, Pa. | Farrell) was voted the PAC’s Overall Most Outstanding Performer. She won the long jump with a mark of 5.21 meters and anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay (50.90). Thomas also finished as the runner-up in the 200 meters (27.06) and finished third in the 100 meters (12.72). 

Westminster first-year Jessica Fatigati (McDonald, Pa. | West Allegheny) was named the Most Outstanding Performer on the Track, winning both the 100-meter dash (12.62) and 200-meter dash (26.69). She led off the Titans' winning 4x100-meter relay (50.90) and ran the second leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay (4:11.73). Fatigati also claimed PAC Newcomer of the Year honors. 

Westminster senior Megan Parker (Mercer, Pa. | Mercer) was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the field after winning both the discus (41.22m) and the shot put (13.45m). Her throw in the shot was a PAC Championships record and new school record.

Westminster 15th-year head coach Tim McNeil was named the PAC Coach of the Year. It was his fourth time winning the award following the completion of the outdoor track and field championships.
