Geneva men earn fourth-straight PAC title

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)-- Geneva College claimed its fourth-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships title Friday night at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

Geneva totaled 157 points during the two-day, 19-event championship event.

Grove City College was the runner-up with 139 points and was followed by Westminster College in third place with 128 points. Washington & Jefferson College was fourth (89), Franciscan University was fifth (64), Thiel College was sixth (61), host Bethany College was seventh (57), Waynesburg University was eighth (33) and Chatham University was ninth (9).

Westminster senior Dalton Anderson (Butler, Pa. | Moniteau) was voted the PAC’s Overall Most Outstanding Performer after winning the javelin with a personal-best throw of 61.07 meters. He finished as the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles (15.98) and ran on Westminster’s winning 4x100-meter relay (43.20). Anderson ran on the Titans’ third-place 4x400-meter relay (3:35.97), fourth in the high jump (1.82m) and sixth in the shot put (11.92m) and pole vault (2.80m).

Westminster junior Amon Sams (Chantilly, Va. | John Champe) was named the Most Outstanding Performer on the Track, winning both the 100-meter dash (10.67) and 200-meter dash (22.32). Sams also anchored the winning 4x100 relay.

Grove City senior Seth Ray (Brookville, Pa. | Brookville) was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the Field for the second-straight year. He won the triple jump (13.46m) and the high jump (1.90m), finished third in the javelin (56.57m) and fifth in the pole vault (2.80m).

Westminster junior Jacob Patton (Harrisville, Pa. | Moniteau) was named the Newcomer of the Year after posting a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (58.94) and third-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (16.18), the triple jump (12.86m) and the pole vault (3.25m). Patton also ran on the winning 4x100-meter relay and the third-place 4x400-meter relay.

Geneva sixth-year head coach Phil Thompson was voted the league’s coach of the year. It is Thompson’s fourth-straight coach of the year citation.
