GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its 2021 All-PAC women's volleyball teams and conference award winners Tuesday afternoon. The league's 10 head coaches determined, by vote, this year’s All-PAC teams and annual award winners.

Westminster College senior middle hitter Becky Adelman (Waterloo, Ohio | Randolph) was voted the PAC Player of the Year, while Thiel College freshman outside hitter Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio | Boardman) received the PAC Newcomer of the Year award.

PAC Coach of the Year honors went to Westminster's 29th-year head coach Tammy Swearingen.

Adelman helped lead Westminster to an 18-0 regular season league record and the No. 1 seed in this year's PAC Championship Tournament. Westminster claimed its sixth PAC title on November 6 with a straight-set win over No. 2 Bethany College at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. It was also Westminster's third-straight conference championship.

Adelman has earned a spot on the league's All-Tournament Team for three-straight years.

A four-time All-PAC selection (first team in 2019, 2020-21, 2021; second team in 2018), Adelman was also recognized as the league's Newcomer of the Year in 2018. She is Westminster's seventh all-time Player of the Year award winner.

Adelman averaged 3.22 kills, 0.83 blocks and 4.01 points per set while hitting .308 (348-92-832) this season. Her 348 kills this fall rank third in the league. During Westminster's 18-0 conference regular season run, Adelman hit .335 (201-45-465) and averaged 3.41 kills, 0.86 blocks and 4.18 points per set. She had 15 or more kills on six occasions this season, including a career-high 22 in a straight-set win at Carnegie Mellon University on Sept. 25.

Torres had a terrific first season for Thiel, leading the PAC in kills (4.04) and points (4.45) per set. Her 388 kills were the most in the league this fall. She finished the season hitting .202 (388-175-1053). Torres totaled 16 or more kills in nine matches, including a career-high 24 against Westminster in a five-set loss Sept. 18. She is the third player in program history to claim the league's newcomer of the year award, and first since Jenna Samsa in 2010. Torres earned a spot on this year's All-Tournament Team.

Swearingen led Westminster to the No. 1 seed in the conference's championship tournament for the fourth-straight year. It was Westminster's second-straight year with an undefeated conference record. This is Swearingen's seventh coach of the year award.

As this year's championship tournament winner, Westminster received the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The PAC is one of 44 conferences granted automatic qualification (Pool A) to the Division III Championship. Westminster will face Otterbein University in the opening round of the Division III Championship Thursday (12:30 p.m.) at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It will be Westminster's fourth all-team appearance in the Division III Championship.
