GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) has partnered with financial literacy advocate Katelyn Fischer to provide guidance on financial wellness and help support its student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to make sense of personal finance.

Student-athletes from each of the league’s 10 full-member institutions will participate in interactive, one-hour sessions with Fischer. Individual school sessions are scheduled to run from Sunday, December 13 through Thursday, Dec. 17.

"I am excited to partner with the Presidents' Athletic Conference to provide tailored financial literacy workshops to each of their member institutions. As a former DIII athlete, I am looking forward to the opportunity to talk with the student-athletes about some tips that helped me during my time in college as well as some things that I wish I had known,” said Fischer. “We will go over the basics of budgeting and loan management, delve into credit and investing, and wrap up with some post-college financial tips. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the student-athletes of the Presidents' Athletic Conference and provide them with takeaways on how to become more confident when managing their personal finances."

A native of Baltimore, Fischer graduated from Marymount University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a specialty in accounting. At Marymount, she was a four-year member and two-year captain of the women’s basketball team, garnering several academic and athletic accolades. Most notably, Fischer won the 2014 Jostens Trophy, an award that recognizes one male and one female outstanding student-athlete in NCAA Division III basketball for excellence in the classroom, on the playing court and in the community.

Named the coordinator of business operations at the University of Maryland in May 2019, Fischer currently assists with purchasing, travel reimbursement and budget reconciliations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. She had previously served as a post-graduate intern at the NCAA’s national office in Indianapolis, working for the Finance and Accounting Department, where she assisted with the budget and expense operations of the NCAA’s internal departments and 90 championships.

“We are very pleased to have Katelyn present to our PAC student-athletes on this critical topic. She brings a wealth of financial knowledge and experience in her young professional career. We believe that she will provide an informational, relatable and enjoyable perspective to young people in our conference seeking to improve their financial acumen,” said PAC Commissioner Joe Onderko.
