Grove City draws Ohio Wesleyan in NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament

GROVE CITY, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Grove City College men's lacrosse team will visit regional rival Ohio Wesleyan in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament this Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Delaware, Ohio. The NCAA announced the 40-team field, game sites and pairings Sunday night.

Grove City (13-7) earned its seventh straight NCAA Tournament berth by winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference title Saturday night. The Wolverines earned a 17-6 home win over Chatham in the conference tournament championship game at Robert E. Thorn Field. 

Ohio Wesleyan qualified for the NCAA Tournament by capturing the North Coast Athletic Conference's automatic berth Saturday night. The Battling Bishops (11-6) earned a 12-4 win at top-seeded Oberlin to win the NCAC Tournament title. 

Ohio Wesleyan will be making its 35th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance.

Grove City enters the national tournament on an 11-game winning streak. The Battling Bishops have won eight straight games. Ohio Wesleyan finished No. 50 in the NCAA's National Power Index (NPI) while Grove City finished 51st.

This is the fourth all-time meeting between the programs. The home team has won each of the first three meetings. Grove City earned a 14-13 overtime home win February 14 over the Battling Bishops at Thorn Field. Senior attack Stewart McClain (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) scored 42 seconds into overtime to break the 13-13 tie.

Ohio Wesleyan downed visiting Grove City in 2025, 18-12. The Wolverines won the first meeting two years ago, 10-8. This is the first postseason clash between the programs.

Both teams reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2025. Grove City defeated Albion in the first round, 18-3, before dropping a 16-14 verdict at No. 4 Christopher Newport. Ohio Wesleyan fell to St. John Fisher in the 2025 second round, 17-16.

The Grove City-Ohio Wesleyan winner will advance to face Lynchburg at 12 p.m. Saturday. York (Pa.) will face Colorado College at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lynchburg in the other second round game in that pod. The Saturday winners will then play in the third round Sunday at 3 p.m. in Lynchburg, Va.
