TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Freshman punter Dylan Reid (Loxahatchee, Fla./Seminole Ridge) and freshman linebacker Ryan Croston (Jefferson, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) of Allegheny College have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and were joined by Washington & Jefferson College sophomore linebacker Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and senior wide receiver Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) in this week’s recognition.
Reid was called upon to punt six times for the Gators on Saturday afternoon, with his kicks averaging 40 yards per boot. He had two punts of more than 50 yards, two of which were downed inside the 20-yard line, and one that was downed at the 1-yard line. In the second quarter, an errant snap found its way past Reid, and into Allegheny's own end zone. Reid was able to corral the football and salvage a 29-yard punt from more than 10 extra yards behind the line of scrimmage.
Late in the third quarter, Croston posted his first collegiate sack for a loss of eight yards, forcing a Geneva punt two plays later. Croston accumulated a season-high 11 tackles, all of them solo, in a 28-16 Allegheny loss against the Golden Tornadoes.
The duo of Reid and Croston are the first Gators to receive this accolade since week seven of the 2023 season.
DeRubbo picked off two passes for W&J in a 34-14 victory against No. 18 Grove City this past Saturday. In the first quarter, the Washington, Pa., native intercepted a deep ball that led to the first points of the game for the Red and Black. DeRubbo grabbed another Grove City deep ball later in the contest, to go along with three total tackles and an additional pass break up.
Macosko enjoyed a career day against the Grove City secondary, hauling in 15 receptions for 180 yards, both career-highs, to go along with a touchdown reception. The longest catch of the day for Macosko was a 46-yard reception that set the Presidents’ up in Grove City territory early in the second quarter. Two plays later, Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) found Andrew Sharp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) for W&J’s first touchdown of the day.
The milestone day for Macosko marks the third consecutive season that the standout W&J wideout has compiled 10 or more receptions and 160 or more receiving yards in the head-to-head match ups with the Wolverines.
Both Macosko and DeRubbo were named to the D3football.com team of the week for the first time in their careers.
