ATLANTA, Ga. (pacathletics.org) - The Thiel College Women's Basketball team finished seventh in the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, as announced by the WBCA Tuesday afternoon.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the nation in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2024-25 season is the 30th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
As a team, the Tomcats, led by head coach Jess Vormelker, boasted an impressive 3.802 team GPA, finishing just 0.62 points behind Colorado College for first in Division III. Thiel's team GPA was tops of any Presidents' Athletic Conference school.
This marks the first time a PAC program has placed inside the Top 25 since Westminster College ranked 24th following the 2020-21 season. It's also the highest placement from a PAC program since 2019-20 when Chatham University tied for sixth among Division III schools with a 3.755 GPA.
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
