PAC Hosts 2025 Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet 5/14/2025 9:35:00 AM ALIQUIPPA, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) held its annual Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet Tuesday, May 13th. The evening of celebration was held at The Fez Banquet Center in Aliquippa, Pa. With overwhelming support from conference's presidents and athletic administrators, the PAC launched its Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet in 2014 as another way to recognize the league's student-athletes for their athletic achievements, excellence in the classroom and outstanding community service efforts. This was the 12th class of scholar-athletes recognized by the conference The event started with a reception for all attendees at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the introduction of the honorees. Over 110 guests were on hand to join in the celebration of the 24 recognized scholar-athletes. Each of the PAC's 11 full-time member institutions – Allegheny College, Bethany College, Chatham University, Franciscan University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College, along with football affiliate Case Western Reserve University and men's volleyball and wrestling affiliate Hiram College (Hiram competes in all PAC sports beginning next year) – were represented by some of their most distinguished student-athletes at the event. 2025 Awardees Emily Lauer Allegheny College Knox, Pennsylvania Keystone High School Major: Biology Sport: Basketball Emily Lauer graduated from Allegheny College this spring following one of the most decorated careers in women’s basketball history. Allegheny’s second all-time leading scorer, Lauer paced the Gators in points in each of her four years, accumulating 1,752 points in 106 games in the Blue and Gold. As a sophomore, she was a finalist for the Jostens Trophy, which is given annually to the most outstanding men’s and women’s Division III basketball players of the year. A three-time All-PAC First Team selection, Lauer was voted the 2024-25 PAC Player of the Year following another incredible season this winter, during which she averaged 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She is the first Gator women’s basketball student-athlete to win Player of the Year since Kim Huber Cook ‘96, Allegheny Hall of Fame Class of 2006, who won it twice in a row from the NCAC in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Lauer earned several additional honors after leading the Gators to the 2025 ECAC championship, including ECAC Division III Championship Tournament MVP, All-ECAC First Team, D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team, and Allegheny’s Female Senior Achievement Award. Carter Hassenplug Allegheny College North East, Pennsylvania North East High School Major: Mathematics Sport: Golf Carter Hassenplug capped off one of the most dominant careers ever by a PAC men’s golfer with another outstanding season. Since the Gators rejoined the conference ahead of the 2022-23 academic year, Hassenplug is the only student-athlete to claim individual medalist and Player of the Year honors at the annual PAC Championships. A three-time individual champion, he also led the Gators to back-to-back team titles in 2023-24 and 2024-25. Hassenplug chipped in a 30-foot birdie on 18 to seal Allegheny’s come-from-behind win in 2024, while he and his teammates ran away from the competition with a 33-stroke victory in 2025. Hassenplug, the 2024-25 Allegheny Male Senior Achievement Award winner, has earned all-conference first-team awards from the PAC and NCAC in each of his four seasons with the Gators. He is also a two-time PING All-Region selection and currently holds the program record for the lowest season scoring average at 71.9 heading into the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships. After narrowly missing the cut as an individual last year, he will lead the Gators to this year’s national championship tournament at the Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York, later this month. Alexis Mahaffey Bethany College Rome, Ohio Grand Valley High School Major: Sports Medicine Sport: Track & Field Alexis Mahaffey has made a lasting impact at Bethany College, not just as a standout track and field athlete, but as a deeply engaged and service-minded student leader. A Kalon Leadership Scholar and member of Phi Delta Psi and Sigma Tau Epsilon honor societies, Mahaffey is a student aide in the Athletic Training department, runs the campus Community Closet, participates in the Pre-Health Club, and volunteers with the Bethany Fire Department. Athletically, she captured the 2025 PAC Indoor Weight Throw title with a school-record mark of 15.62 meters after finishing runner up in the 2024 Indoor Championships. Mahaffey currently leads the Mid-Atlantic Region in weight throw with the distance of 50.47 meters – which is a school record. She is currently 30th nationally in the event. Mahaffey leads the Bison in all three of their outdoor events – shot put (11.08 meters), discus (33.50 meters), and hammer throw (50.47). She also holds the school record in discus, set in the 2024 PAC Championships. A USTFCCCA All-Region honoree and school record-holder in multiple events, Mahaffey is Bethany’s nominee for the PAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She will pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Master’s in Athletic Training at the University of Lynchburg this fall. Santiago Bruni Bethany College Escobar, Buenos Aires, Argentina Colegio Arrayanes Major: Sports Management, Marketing Sport: Soccer Santiago Bruni has been one of Bethany College’s most unassuming yet influential student-athletes, earning Homecoming King while excelling on the field as well as the classroom. The double major in Sports Management and Marketing maintained a 3.89 GPA and was selected for NCAA’s Career in Sports and Leadership Forums. He interned as a data analyst for Bethany Athletics and Oglebay Resort and volunteered as a video analyst for Southport FC. As a four-year starter on the soccer team, he helped secure the 2021 PAC championship and even netted a clutch tying goal against Saint Vincent this season. On campus, he chaired the Global Cultures Club and Sports Studies Honor Society and supported youth at Bethany Soccer Camps. Bruni will pursue his MBA at West Liberty University with the ultimate goal of working for an MLS franchise. Ethan Dahlem Case Western Reserve Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania Upper St. Clair High School Major: Finance Sport: Football Case Western Reserve University senior wide receiver Ethan Dahlem recently completed a standout career for the Spartans’ football team. Dahlem finished his career ranked 12th in program history with 123 catches and 15 touchdowns and 13th with 1,621 receiving yards. He was a two-time All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference selection over his career, earning an honorable mention as a sophomore in 2022 and securing a spot on the second team earlier this year as a senior. He appeared in eight games for CWRU in 2024, finishing the year with 31 catches for 490 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns. Academically, Dahlem has a 3.383 cumulative grade point average as a finance major at the Weatherhead School of Management. He has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll each of the last two seasons and recently was selected to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Sam Beall-Dennell Chatham University Sykesville, Maryland Century High School Major: Biochemistry & Mathematics Sport: Lacrosse Sam is a four-year member of the Chatham Women’s Lacrosse program and holds the team’s career records for goals (112), assists (55), points (167), ground balls (205), caused turnovers (84) and draw controls (286). She was named All-PAC First Team in 2023 and 2024 and All-PAC Second Team in 2022. Sam was recently recognized as one of 200 undergraduate students to receive the National Science Foundation’s graduate research fellowship program, which will help fund her graduate school research at Princeton, and, in 2024, she became the first Chatham student to be awarded the Goldwater Scholarship, which is given to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. Sam graduates with a double major in Biochemistry and Mathematics. She will be attending Princeton in the fall in pursuit of a PhD in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, with an end goal of becoming a professor of chemistry and teaching and conducting research at the collegiate level. Ethan Rinker Chatham University Laurel, Maryland St. Vincent Pallotti High School Major: Exercise Science Sport: Lacrosse Ethan is a four-year member of the Chatham Men’s Lacrosse program and has held captain status in three seasons, including as a first year in 2022. This season, he became the program’s all-time leader in both goals and assists. Ethan was an All-PAC Honorable Mention in 2022 and 2023 and was named to the PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2024. He is in the midst of his best season, with career highs in goals, assists and points. Ethan graduates from Chatham with a major in Exercise Science and has accepted a job as a strength and conditioning intern for the football team at the United States Naval Academy. Jazzlyn Melnyk Franciscan University Weirton, West Virginia Madonna Major: Management Sport: Basketball The local product has excelled on and off the court over her four years at Franciscan. Melnyk played and started in 73 games as a Baron while missing her entire junior season due to injury. She filled the box score night in and night out, as her name is all over the program record book. She is the program leader in assists (215), second in steals (160), third in rebounding (604), and fifth in career scoring (723). The management major has dominated in the classroom as well. Her 3.95 career GPA has helped her earn PAC Academic Honor Roll accolades in each of her previous three seasons. She was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team during her sophomore year. She was also named the PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month in February of this year. Melnyk is very active on campus, as she works in the athletic department as a compliance assistant and is a national-certified personal trainer for fellow students. She plans to return to Franciscan in the fall to obtain her Master’s in Business Administration. Nathaniel Carter Franciscan University McLean, Virginia Trinity School at Meadow View Major: Civil Engineering Sport: Lacrosse Carter was a three-year member of the Franciscan Men’s Lacrosse Team. The Virginia native accumulated 99 points over 38 games, including 63 goals. His goal total ranks among the Top 10 all-time in program history. He has also gathered 84 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers. Carter has also had great success in the classroom as well. He was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll in each of his previous two seasons, and last season, he was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. He should be able to add some more academic and athletic honors to his impressive resume, as he holds a 3.96 career GPA. Carter will be greatly missed, as he is transferring back home to finish his Civil Engineering degree next year. Adalie Tallman Geneva College Gaithersburg, Maryland Homeschool Major: Communication Disorders Sport: Soccer Adalie Tallman graduated with a degree in Communication Disorders and a minor in Mathematics, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. She is planning to attend West Virginia University in the fall to complete a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Adalie has been a cornerstone player for the women’s soccer program over the past four years, immediately stepping into the starting lineup as a freshman and starting almost every game over her four seasons at Geneva. She quickly developed into a strong central defender for the Golden Tornadoes, earning All-PAC honors her sophomore season. She’s also excelled in the classroom, where she boasts a 3.98 GPA. She’s been named to the Dean’s list, the PAC Academic Honor Roll, an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and a CSC Academic All-District selection every year she’s been eligible. Adalie has been an active member of the Geneva campus community. She was a member and officer of the Geneva chapter of the National Student Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society. She served as a squad lead for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a member of the Welcome Week Hospitality Team. Adalie also worked as a tutor for math and communication disorders classes. In addition, she has served as the Fair 4-H Indoor Building Clovers Chairman for the past three years. Kevin Arseneaux Geneva College Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts Dennis-Yarmouth High School Major: Middle Level Education Sports: Cross Country, Track & Field Kevin Arseneaux graduated with a degree in Middle Level Education and has accepted a position teaching middle school at a Christian school in Indonesia, where he will also coach track. Kevin will go down as one of the best track and cross country runners to ever compete at Geneva. He became the first Golden Tornado to win the PAC Cross Country Championship last year, while qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships. He holds multiple indoor and outdoor records in track & field, specializing in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races which he has won at the PAC Championships for the past three seasons. Kevin regularly competes at Division I meets, winning an 800-meter race at Ohio State as a sophomore. He’s twice been named the Most Outstanding Performer at the PAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Kevin has also excelled in the classroom where he posted a 3.69 GPA, earning honors on the PAC Academic Honor Roll, as an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and a CSC Academic All-District selection. Kevin has also been an integral part of the Geneva campus community over the past four years, playing tenor saxophone in the Geneva jazz band and helping lead a regular Bible study on the track team. He has also been an active member of his church, where he has served as a Sunday School teacher and an usher during his four years at Geneva. Kevin also spent parts of his college summers serving at Pine Valley Bible Camp as a counselor for underprivileged kids. Britta Lagerquist Grove City College Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Fox Chapel High School Major: Exercise Science Sport: Soccer Grove City College women’s soccer standout Britta Lagerquist earned All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors in each of her four seasons at the College while helping the Wolverines to 48 wins, two conference championships and two trips to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Lagerquist recorded 24 assists during her career, which ranks fifth in program history. She also scored 23 goals, highlighted by a 10-goal season as a sophomore in 2022. Lagerquist captured First Team All-PAC as a sophomore and as a junior. She earned Second Team distinction after her rookie season and Honorable Mention All-PAC as a senior. Lagerquist also earned two letters as a member of the Grove City track and field team, specializing in the sprint events. The College recognized Lagerquist as its Senior Woman of the Year for the 2024-25 academic year. Lagerquist earned induction into the Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa honoraries while at Grove City. Lagerquist served as vice president, then president, of Grove City’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter. She also belonged to Crown and Sceptre, serving as that honorary’s secretary. Lagerquist graduated with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science. She achieved Dean’s List recognition, as well as placement on the conference’s Academic Honor Roll. Trey Zabroski Grove City College Mountain Top, Pennsylvania Crestwood High School Major: Finance Sport: Men’s Lacrosse United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American Trey Zabroski helped the Grove City College men’s lacrosse capture four Presidents’ Athletic Conference titles and four berths in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. A standout at short stick defensive midfielder, Zabroski earned the conference’s Specialist of the Year award in 2024, as well as Most Outstanding Player distinction at the 2024 conference tournament. He earned First Team All-PAC as a junior last year, then repeated as a First Team selection this season. The USILA also honored Zabroski as a 2024 Scholar All-American. He additionally received Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-Region recognition after his junior campaign. In 73 career games, Zabroski compiled 33 goals and 53 assists while helping anchor the Wolverines’ defense. He also served as Grove City’s No. 2 faceoff man during his sophomore and junior seasons. A biochemistry major, Zabroski earned Presidents’ Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2024. He earned the College’s Organic Chemistry Award as a sophomore, then merited the Physical Chemistry Award during his junior year. Zabroski has been named to the Dean’s List and to the conference’s Academic Honor Roll. Kyle Martini Hiram College Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania Seneca Valley High School Major: Integrated Social Studies Sport: Volleyball Kyle Martini, from Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, will be graduating from Hiram College with a degree in Integrated Social Studies, along with minors in both history and political science. He intends to pursue a high school teaching job for the subject of social studies following his graduation. Martini is one of the most accomplished student-athletes in the history of the Hiram men’s volleyball program, ranking first in career kills per set (3.04), second in kills (834), second in solo blocks (71) and second in points (1,022). He is also one of two student-athletes in program history to earn first-team all-conference honors in three different seasons, doing so in each of his three years as a Terrier (2023, 2024, 2025). Highlighting Martini’s career at Hiram College was the program’s second ever conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2024, when the team went 20-12, which included wins in nine of the last 10 matches. Martini joined Hiram in the fall of 2022 after transferring from Penn State University (State College, PA). Stacie Ramos Saint Vincent College Chula Vista, California Olympian High School Majors: Marketing and Digital Arts and Media Sport: Volleyball Stacie Ramos graduated from Saint Vincent with degrees in Marketing and Digital Arts and Media with a concentration in Graphic Design. Stacie plans to stay in Pittsburgh for a couple of years, before moving back to California to begin her career. Ramos was a standout Libero on the Bearcats’ women’s volleyball team for four years. Stacie played in 94 matches during her four-year career, amassing 1,534 digs and recording 211 assists and 97 service aces. Ramos earned First Team All-PAC honors for the first time in her Saint Vincent career this past season. She was also a multi-time winner of the PAC Defensive Player of the Week award as well. Off the volleyball court, Ramos was a standout in the classroom as well. She earned CSC Academic All-District honors three different times at Saint Vincent. Recently, she earned the Saint Vincent College Athletic Department’s Kristen Zawacki Award, which honors an excellent student-athlete who demonstrated service to the Saint Vincent College community. Ramos was an active member of the Saint Vincent community during her four years as well. She was a member of the Women in Business board, International Business Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta, and Alpha Lambda Delta as well. Aiden Jackson Saint Vincent College Carroll, Ohio William V. Fisher High School Majors: Business Management Sports: Cross Country, Track & Field Aiden Jackson graduated from Saint Vincent with a degree in Business Management. Aiden has been a staple for the Bearcats cross country and track and field program’s over his four years at Saint Vincent. Jackson earned Second Team All-PAC honors twice, while earning Honorable Mention All-PAC honors twice in cross country. Aiden is a multi-time regional qualifier in both track and cross country as well. This past season, Jackson recorded a top-11 finish at the PAC Cross Country Championships, finishing in 11th place, racing a time of 26:39 for the Bearcats. Jackson was just as strong in the classroom, as he is a multi-time PAC Academic Honor Roll member and has been on the Dean’s List for the last seven semesters of his college career. Aiden is very involved on campus as well. He is a theology tutor, legion leader, and member of the men’s ministry. He is also heavily involved in campus ministry, the Knights of Columbus, Data Analytics Club, and Ultimate Frisbee Club as well. Rebecca Landis Thiel College Kinsman, Ohio Mathews High School Major: Exercise Science, Psychology Sport: Softball Becca Landis graduated with degrees in exercise science and psychology and will attend Youngstown State University in the fall as she pursues a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Landis goes down as unarguably the best pitcher in program history as she ended her career as the program record holder for lowest career ERA (2.34) and had the fourth most strikeouts (216) in team history. Landis struck out a program-record 155 this season and K’d a career-high 14, which is the second most in a game in team history, in Thiel’s win over Chatham on April 28. She led the PAC in the regular season with 138 K’s. Landis was an All-PAC Honorable Mention in 2024 and will be a Second-Team All-PAC pick in 2025. In the classroom, she boasts a 4.0 GPA, is a Dean’s List student and is part of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She was a CSC Academic All-District pick last year, in addition to making the PAC Academic Honor Roll. Outside of being on the softball team, Landis coaches travel softball, has pitching lessons and conducts team practices for local softball programs. Through her business, “Step it Up Athletics,” Landis will continue to give back the game of softball by conducting private lessons to train the next generation of softball players. Luke Faber Thiel College Greenville, Pennsylvania Reynolds High School Majors: Exercise Science Sport: Football Luke Faber graduated from Thiel with a degree in exercise science and intends to join the Thiel physician assistant program or get certified in strength and conditioning over the summer and into next fall. Faber, a Greenville native, was a decorated defensive lineman on the field, as he collected All-PAC status in each of the last three seasons. He was Honorable Mention in 2022 and 2024 in addition to making the All-PAC Second Team in 2023. This past season, he was a team captain, tied for the conference lead in fumbles recovered (three), was in the top 25 in sacks and was the PAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 2. Faber was third on the Tomcats in tackles (57: 19 solo, 38 assisted). Academically, he boasts a 3.82 GPA, is a member of the Tri Beta Honor Society and has been on the Dean’s List six times. In the community, he earned the Greenville Lions Club Coaches Award. On campus, Faber is regularly in the weight room volunteering his time to help other Thiel students with their exercise regimens. Adalynn Cherry Washington & Jefferson College Altoona, Pennsylvania Altoona Area High School Majors: Economics & Spanish Sport: Basketball Adalynn Cherry helped guide Washington & Jefferson College women’s basketball to its most successful four-year run in program history, leading a senior class that set a school record with 94 wins, two PAC Tournament titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances. The three-year captain helped the program earn its first NCAA Tournament victory with a thrilling 76–72 overtime win over Messiah in March 2025. Cherry finished her career with 847 points, 409 rebounds, 245 assists, and 109 steals. Her 164 made three-pointers rank fourth in program history. A three-time All-PAC selection and the 2025 PAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Cherry was also twice named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. Off the court, she was involved in the Special Olympics Club, the Washington Fellows Program, and the W&J SAAC. Adalynn is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society and Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society. In December, she was recognized as the PAC SAAC Scholar Athlete of the Month. She twice earned recognition on the CSC Academic All-District Team and was listed three times on the PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll. A double major in Economics and Spanish with a perfect 4.0 GPA, she earned multiple academic honors and plans to pursue a master’s degree in Economic Growth and Development at the University of Carlos III in Madrid, with aspirations to become a global economic development consultant. Jacob Pugh Washington & Jefferson College Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania Thomas Jefferson High School Major: Business Administration Sport: Football Jacob put together a standout career over the last four years, helping to lead the Presidents to a share of the 2024 PAC Football title and a spot in the NCAA Division III Playoffs. Among all D-III players, Pugh ranked third in points responsible per game (24.7), fifth in passing yards (3,288), seventh in passing touchdowns (40), eighth in total offense (312.7) and 13th in passing efficiency (178.3) in 2024. Pugh accounted for 108 career touchdowns over his career. His 93 passing touchdowns rank fourth in program history. He concluded his career ranked fifth in program history with 7,668 career passing yards and put together a 27-6 record during his three seasons as a full-time starter. Pugh was announced as one of 18 semifinalists for the 2024 Gagliardi Trophy, an award presented to the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III. Pugh earned PAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 & 2024, finishing his career as a three-time All-PAC honoree, earning First Team honors the past two seasons. Academically, Pugh was named to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Pugh has made the PAC Fall Academic Honor Roll twice and was listed on the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society. Pugh additionally volunteered time with the W&J Football camps and youth camps. Pugh entered his final semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.52 and recently earned his degree in Business Administration. Sydney Wilson Waynesburg University Pentress, West Virginia Clay-Battelle High School Major: Early Childhood Education & Special Education Sport: Softball Sydney Wilson is an early childhood education and special education Waynesburg University graduate and a four-year member of the Waynesburg softball team. She was a four-year All-PAC selection and a two-time PAC Pitcher of the Year. Sydney led the Jackets to PAC championships in 2022 and 2023 and to the PAC Tournament title game in 2024. She was honored as the PAC Newcomer of the Year in 2022 and the PAC Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player in 2023. Regionally, Sydney was named the ECAC Pitcher of the Year and to the NFCA All-Region Second Team in 2023. She concluded her Waynesburg career with 59 wins, 484 strikeouts and a 1.70 ERA, all program records. She set single-season team record in wins, ERA and strikeouts and the team’s single-game strikeouts mark. Sydney was a member of the PAC Academic Honor Roll and earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators last spring. Sydney was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society and was a Dean’s list student at Waynesburg. Her future plans are to get a job teaching elementary students at a local school district, while preparing to further her education in a master’s or juris doctor program. Seth Massotti Waynesburg University Lebanon, Pennsylvania Elizabethtown High School Major: Marketing Sport: Soccer Seth Massotti graduated from Waynesburg as a marketing major, and a four-year starter for Yellow Jacket men’s soccer team. A team captain, Seth was a two-time All-PAC honoree and, as a senior, led the conference and set Waynesburg’s single-season assists record with nine assists. He set Waynesburg’s single-game assists record with three at Carlow and became the first player in team history to have multiple multi-assist games. Seth concluded his career with 19 assists, second-most in program history. He is a two-year College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection and a member of the PAC Academic Honor Roll. Seth was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta honor society and received the Waynesburg Department of Business Administration award for academic excellence in marketing. He is currently pursing an MBA in business management at Waynesburg and has accepted a job in sales at ADP. Emma Sukal Westminster College Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Baldwin High School Majors: Individual Interdisciplinary Law and Society Sport: Tennis Emma, an individual interdisciplinary law and society major from Pittsburgh, graduated on May 10. A College Sports Communicators Academic All- District ® At-Large selection in 2023, she is a seven-time Dean’s List and three-time PAC Academic Honor Roll recipient, maintaining a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate. Emma recently received the Dr. Darwin W. Huey Scholar-Athlete of the Year award at the 20th Annual WESPY Awards celebration. Emma missed the 2023 season due to injury. After spending a year focused on getting healthy enough to return to the lineup, she did just that last fall, teaming up with fellow senior Gia Francisco at No. 1 doubles to earn First Team All-PAC while receiving Honorable Mention All-PAC recognition at No. 2 singles. Emma finished the year going 7-4 overall and 5-3 in PAC play. A First Team All-PAC selection at No. 2 singles and Second Team All-PAC selection at No. 1 doubles in 2022, she claimed First Team All-PAC at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in 2021. Last summer, Emma was one of just 20 students chosen nationwide for the Keith Sherin Global Leaders: Study Abroad Program, organized by the Council for Opportunity in Education. Emma has been active with the College’s Pre-Law Club, helping coordinate events for students preparing for the LSAT, and served as an orientation leader in 2023 and 2024. Emma plans on attending law school next fall. Ellian Ascencio Westminster College Venetia, Pennsylvania Peters Township High School Major: Chemistry Sport: Golf Ellian, a native of Venetia, Pennsylvania, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry on May 10. He is a seven-time Dean’s List and three-time PAC Academic Honor Roll recipient, maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout his time as an undergraduate. He recently received the Dr. Darwin W. Huey Scholar-Athlete of the Year award at the 20th Annual WESPY Awards celebration. Ellian worked as a peer tutor in the College’s internationally recognized Office of Academic Success, providing support and guidance to students enrolled in the Department of Biochemistry and Chemistry. He was also active with the College’s Pi Sigma Pi honors fraternity. Last summer, Ellian spent 10 weeks studying different sweetcorn variations with a food science research group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. A College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District ® At-Large selection in 2023 and 2024, Ellian earned Second Team All-PAC for the third-straight year after finishing in a three-way tie for ninth place with a 306 at this year’s PAC Championships. In 12 PAC Championship rounds played between 2022 to 2025, he averaged 77.6 strokes. Ellian averaged 77.3 strokes per round last season, finishing with 11 rounds in the 70’s. Ellian plans on attending graduate school to study chemistry or food science.
