Emily Tallis Grove City Men Win 25th PAC Title 2/23/2025 12:50:00 AM GROVE CITY, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Using three event victories, which included a pair of conference records, Grove City College's men's team put an exclamation point on winning their seventh consecutive and 25th overall Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming and Diving Championship Saturday night. The Wolverines secured the title with 1,087 points to finish in front of runner-up Washington & Jefferson College, who totaled 635 points. Saint Vincent College completed the Championships in third place with 589 points, followed by Westminster College (468), Chatham University (250), Allegheny College (234) and Bethany College (eight). Grove City claimed a pair of individual event wins before closing the Championships with a relay victory. The Wolverines' first win of the night was claimed by junior Will Sterrett (Wilmington, N.C./Hoggard), who prevailed in the 200 Backstroke in 1:52.00. Then in the final individual race, sophomore Owen Hancock (Brunswick, Ohio/Westside Christian) won the 200 Fly for the second year in a row and in the process, set a new pool and conference record with his time of 1:51.89. Capping Grove City's championship was a win in the 400 free relay. The team of junior Caleb Einolf (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), junior Nathan Beukema (Kensington, Md./Homeschooled), sophomore Sam Funches (Tacoma, Wash./Covenant) and Hancock finished in 3:00.82, a time that set a pool and PAC championships record and also surpassed the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard. Other winners on the Championships' final night included Westminster senior Sam Duda (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley), who added a title in the 1,650 Free (16:48.12) to his previous win this week in the 500 Free, and W&J senior Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin), who repeated as the 200 Breaststroke champion with a finals time of 2:06.19. Saint Vincent junior Jacob Dzurica (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) added a third win to his week, pulling out a victory in the 100 Free in 44.44 seconds, which is an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Dzurica, who also won the 50 Free and 100 Back this week, was named the PAC Swimmer of the Year following the championships. The PAC Diver of the Year award was earned by W&J freshman Zach Lloyd (Dillsburg, Pa./Lloyd Academy (Homeschooled)). After he won the one-meter competition Thursday, Lloyd made it a sweep on the boards Saturday after he scored 362.25 points in the three-meter finals. Earning PAC Newcomer of the Year was Westminster freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio/Lake Center Christian), who added a second place finish in the 200 Back Saturday to his runner-up finish in the 100 Back earlier this week. Katigbak also placed 11th overall in the 50 Free earlier this week and third among freshmen in the race. W&J swept the conference coaching awards. Seventh-year head coach Matt Rochna was named the PAC Men's Coach of the Year for the first time after leading the Presidents to a second place showing, their highest placement since 2016. And after Lloyd won the Diver of the Year, W&J's Josh Vasko was named the PAC Diving Coach of the Year, his first men's award and second conference award after he was the Women's Diving Coach of the Year in 2022.
