BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva College senior women's basketball player Emily Garvin (Danville, Pa./Northumberland Christian) added a national award to her weekly collection on Tuesday when she was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week, which honors the top five players from Division III over the past week. This is her second weekly award after being named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Tuesday's award marks the second straight season that a Geneva women's basketball player has been honored by the D3Hoops.com national organization after Mackenzie Barricklow received the honor at the end of last year. Barricklow and Garvin are the only two Geneva women's players to receive this honor since Geneva moved to Division III in 2011.
Garvin led Geneva to two non-conference victories last week, averaging 23.5 points (shooting 58.6 percent), 10.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 steals. In an 80-73 win at Kenyon, she posted 21 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Garvin followed with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in a 93-59 win over Wooster, shooting an efficient 73 percent from the field for her third double-double of the season.
Garvin currently leads the PAC in scoring (18.5 points per game) and ranks in the top ten in rebounds (8.0), assists (3.8), field goal percentage (.491), and free throw percentage (.814).
