TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathleteics.org) - Geneva College senior linebacker Nicholas Ciriello (Port Colborne, Ontario/Canisius) was named to the Team of the Week by D3football.com for his performance in the last week of Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contests this past Saturday.

In the final PAC game of his career, Ciriello put together a career day for Geneva’s defense, totaling 12 tackles, including 11 solo stops, two tackles for loss, one sack, and a fumble recovery that he returned for a 10-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. The Golden Tornadoes used the Ciriello score, the first of his career, to establish a 17-7 lead.

Geneva would go on to defeat Case Western Reserve by a final score of 43-16, which marks the first time the Golden Tornadoes have defeated the Spartans since joining the league in 2011. It also guarantees Geneva their first winning season in over a decade.

Ciriello has played in 33 contests as a Golden Tornado during his four-year career in Beaver Falls, and has amassed 199 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, an interception, and a touchdown. Ciriello’s D3football.com distinction is the first of his career, and makes him the fifth Golden Tornado ever to be named to the Team of the Week in the history of the award.

Geneva will wrap up their season this Saturday (Nov. 22) in the ECAC Robert M. "Scotty" Whitelaw Bowl against SUNY Brockport. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM in Brockport, NY.
