GENEVA, N.Y. (pacathletics.org) - The Grove City College men's soccer team's season came to an end Friday afternoon with a 1-0 loss in double overtime against Calvin University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match was played at Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.

The Wolverines, who won their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title since 2005 to earn the automatic bid to the Tournament, complete the year with a 15-3-2 record. Calvin (17-3-1) advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament to play Messiah University Saturday. The Falcons defeated host Hobart by a similar 1-0 score in overtime in Friday's first game.

After the two teams battled through 90 scoreless minutes in regulation and one 10-minute overtime period, Calvin struck for the game-winning goal just 62 seconds into the second OT session. The Knights' Zac Brooks scored his sixth goal of the season at the 101:12 mark for the tally that advanced Calvin to the second round.

The match was nearly even in every statistic. The winning shot was the only attempt of the second overtime and gave Calvin a 19-18 margin for the game, with a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. Grove City did have seven corner kicks to the Knights' two, with four of the Wolverines' attempts coming in the first extra period.

Grove City freshman keeper Keller Krieger (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence) stopped six shots in the match, as did Calvin's Zac Moore.

Friday was the first appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Wolverines since 1980 and their fourth overall. It was also the first official meeting between Grove City and Calvin. The teams did play at Calvin during the 2025 regular season on September 20 but thunderstorms halted the match with 33 minutes remaining and Calvin owning a 1-0 lead. The match result and statistics did not count for either team due to the game being halted.
