W&J Earns Top Seed for PAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament

TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Washington & Jefferson College, the three-time defending champion, has earned the top seed for the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.

The Presidents secured the #1 seed and hosting rights throughout the tournament after registering a 10-6 overall record and an undefeated 9-0 mark in PAC play this spring. W&J, as well as No. 2 seed Allegheny College (9-6, 8-1 PAC), have byes into the semifinals of the six-team tournament, which begins Tuesday, April 30.

In one of Tuesday's quarterfinal round games, fifth-seeded Thiel College (9-6, 5-4) is going to Pittsburgh to take on fourth-seeded Chatham University (9-7, 6-3) in a 5 p.m. contest. The other quarterfinal will feature No. 3 Grove City College (12-5, 7-2 PAC) hosting No. 6 Westminster College (5-10, 4-5 PAC) at 5:30 p.m.

The semifinal round is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 and has the winner of Chatham/Thiel going to W&J for a 7 p.m. start in Washington, Pa. In the second semifinal, Allegheny will host the winner of the Grove City/Westminster tilt in Meadville in a match-up scheduled to start at 7 p.m. as well.

Saturday's title game will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed following Thursday's semifinal games. Information regarding this year's championship game will be announced following the semifinal round.

W&J claimed its third PAC title in a row last spring with a 14-10 triumph over Allegheny in the championship game.

The winner of the PAC Championship Tournament will receive the conference's automatic-qualifying bid to the Division III Championship. The field for this year's Division III Championship is scheduled to be announced Monday, May 6. First and second round games are scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, May 11-13.
