Week 1 PAC Honors (for games played Feb. 27-March 5)
The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 1 of the 2023 season.
 
PAC Hitter of the Week
Sophia Godzak • Allegheny • Sophomore Utility • Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon
In Allegheny’s 3-1 start to the season, Godzak batted .538 with a .647 on-base percentage while driving in five … In the opening game, she had three hits and a two-run double to ignite the late rally, as Allegheny scored the final five runs in a 10-9 victory over Gordon … In an 8-6 win over Russell Sage, she stroked three more hits, had one RBI and scored a run … Against UMass-Dartmouth, Godzak drew a pair of walks, scored one and knocked in one … In Sunday’s second game, a 7-6 win over Pitt-Greensburg, Godzak hit an RBI single.

Bethany senior Morgan Huey (Hermitage Pa./Hermitage) had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs against Kean and roped another double among her two hits against Maryville … Chatham senior Justine Boyle (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) batted .611 (11-18) in eight games last week and had a three-hit game against Saint Mary’s … Saint Vincent junior Alex Dillner (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) went 2-for-3 with a sac fly that scored the eventual winning run in 6-3 win over Rivier and then cranked SVC’s first homer, a two-run shot, in 6-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead … Sophomore Julianna Sloan (Kinsville, Ohio/Edgewood) went 2-for-6 with a home run, a triple and one RBI in Thiel’s first two games in Myrtle Beach … Waynesburg senior Bryn Hunter (West Alexander, Pa./McGuffey) had three hits, stole two bases, scored one and drove in one in victory over Cazenovia Sunday.
   
PAC Pitcher of the Week
Autumn Stemple • Waynesburg • Freshman • Morgantown, W.Va./University    
In her collegiate debut Sunday, Stemple threw a shutout in an 8-0 win over Cazenovia … She piled up 11 strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter over the five-inning complete-game effort … She struck out the first four batters she faced and five of the first six hitters … Of the three hits allowed, two were infield singles.  
Other notable performers from last week
Allegheny sophomore Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) threw a complete game and struck out 11 in the win over Sage … Chatham freshman Victoria Murren (New Oxford, Pa./Bermudian Springs) struck out 11 and gave up just two hits in a five-inning complete game win over Houghton … Thiel junior Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) allowed two earned runs on six hits and struck out a pair through six innings in a 3-2 loss to Rosemont Sunday.
 
PAC Rookie of the Week
Kiley Meek • Saint Vincent • Freshman pitcher • Holbrook, Pa./West Greene    
In her collegiate debut against Concordia-Moorhead, Meek earned the complete-game victory, allowing just one run on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks … After surrendering one run on three hits in the top of the first, Meek settled in to close with six shutout innings and faced just three batters over the minimum the rest of the way.

Allegheny freshman Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) had a single and scored a run in the Gators’ win over Sage in Florida … Bethany freshman Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) had two hits, including a double, and stole a base against Maryville and finished the Bison’s spring trip with three hits, four runs, three walks and two stolen bases … Thiel freshman Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in two games played Sunday in Myrtle Beach … Waynesburg freshman Bella DeMark (Carnegie, Pa./Bishop Canevin) went 2-for-2 in her first game against Cazenovia with a single, double and two RBIs.
