PAC Player of the Week

Kina Ehlers • Franciscan • Franciscan • Westerville, Ohio | Big Walnut Ehlers went 2-0 at No. 2 singles last week and partnered with Claire Cardie for a pair of doubles victories in wins over Saint Vincent and Baldwin Wallace… In Friday’s 9-0 PAC victory over Saint Vincent she defeated Angela Popovich 6-4, 6-2 after teaming with Cardie in an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles… Ehlers earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kierstyn Yates in Franciscan’s 8-1 victory Saturday at Baldwin Wallace… Ehlers and Cardie secured an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Allegheny sophomore Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla. | Professional and Technical) was 4-0 last week in wins over Houghton and Geneva, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and teaming with Taylor Hayes in a pair of 8-0 wins at No. 3 doubles… Geneva senior Laura Lin Comollo (Smyrna, Del. | Polytech) was a combined 4-2 last week at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles, earning wins against La Roche and Muskingum… Grove City sophomore Ally Gaines (Clearfield, Pa. | Clearfield) won the “G” singles flight at Saturday’s Grove City Invitational… Thiel senior Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Baldwin) defeated Grove City’s Lexi Chappel 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 1 singles in a 7-2 loss Sept. 6…. Zgurich also teamed with Payton Blankenbeckley for an 8-7 (8-6) win at No. 1 doubles… Zgurich went 2-0 in singles play at the Grove City Invitational on Saturday to win the “B” Flight title… Zgurich defeated Mount Union’s Emma Thornton 7-6, 6-0 in a semifinal match and Grove City’s Logan Fuss in the “B” Flight championship 6-0, 6-2… W&J senior Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Upper St. Clair) earned a win at No. 1 singles at Westminster Saturday… Waynesburg junior Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. | Riverside) won at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles at Mount Aloysius Saturday… Westminster senior Sabrina Slagle (Upper St. Clair, Pa. | Upper St. Clair) was a combined 4-0 last week at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Maria Lounder • Allegheny • Freshman • Pittsburgh, Pa. | Moon Lounder helped Allegheny secure back-to-back 9-0 wins over Houghton last Tuesday and in the team's PAC opener against Geneva on Friday with four total wins last week… She defeated Houghton's Alexandria Leary at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-0) and partnered with Katherine Marks to earn an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles… Lounder did not lose a game against Geneva, sweeping Jenna Allison at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0) and teaming with Marks for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Franciscan freshman Margaret Vernau (Irmo, S.C. | Mother of Divine Grace) earned a 6-1, 6-0 win against Saint Vincent’s Abby Donnelly at No. 6 singles and won 6-4, 6-3 against Baldin Wallace’s Emma Trost at No. 4 singles… Geneva freshman Lauren Estes (Cattanooga, Tenn. | Grace Baptist Academy) went 4-2 overall last week at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles, earning wins against La Roche and Muskingum… Grove City freshman Courtney DeCarlo (Chagrin Falls, Ohio | Cuyahoga Valley Christian) won the "E" singles flight at Saturday's Grove City Invitational… She yielded only five total games in her two straight-set victories… Westminster first-year Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa. | Thomas Jefferson) was a combined 4-0 last week with victories at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles.
