W&J wins second-straight PAC title

GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--Top-seeded Washington & Jefferson College earned a 13-5 victory over No. 2 Grove City College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament title game Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium in Washington. 

The PAC Championship Tournament title was the second straight for W&J. 

As the winner of the PAC Championship Tournament, W&J will receive the conference's automatic-qualifying bid to the Division III Championship. Thirty-two conferences have been granted automatic qualification (Pool A) for this year's championship. The 46-team field for this year’s Division III Championship is scheduled to be announced Monday, May 9. First and second round games are scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, May 14-15.

Junior Sam Casile (New Kensington, Pa. | Plum) finished with six ground balls and four caused turnovers... Casile was named the championship tournament's Most Outstanding Player after totaling 10 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in the two wins... Junior Sarah Labovitz (Great Falls, Va. | The Bullis School) had one goal, one assist, three ground balls, seven draw controls and one caused turnover... Sophomore Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md. | La Plata) made nine saves in her 12th win of the season... Grove City freshman Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa. | Seneca Valley) stopped 14 shots, her seventh game with 10 or more saves... Junior Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va. | Jefferson Forest) had one goal, four ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers... Freshman Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md. | Glenelg) added four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers... W&J outshot Grove City, 37-16... Each team had 28 turnovers.
