PAC SAAC Scholar-Athletes of the Month (October 2014)

Each month the Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) at each Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member institution are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Honorees must be a varsity member in their respective sport(s) and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within his or her campus community.

Jones, a four-year letter winner, four-time All-PAC Second Team performer and two-time team MVP with the Titans’ cross country program, was the school’s top finisher in every race she’s participated in over the past three seasons. She has earned a spot on six-straight PAC Academic Honor Rolls (fall with cross country, spring with track and field).  

On campus she is a three-year member and two-year officer with Westminster’s SAAC, is the secretary of the Student Government Association (SGA), serves as a teacher’s assistant in a first-year writing class and works in the English department. A leader with Westminster’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Jones also serves as a weekly copy editor and bi-weekly writer for The Holcad, Westminster’s school newspaper, and performs the National Anthem at number Titan athletic contests.

She serves as the president of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honorary, and Pi Sigma Pi, a local scholastic honorary, and is also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honorary, Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honorary, and Alpha Gamma Delta, a social fraternity. Jones is also a sweetheart of Westminster’s Theta Chi fraternity.

Majoring in English with pursuing a minor in secondary education, Jones carries a 3.988 grade-point average (GPA).

Morgan led the Tomcats to a fourth-place finish at this year’s PAC Men’s Cross Country Championship, finishing sixth overall (27:10.7) and earning All-PAC First Team honors. In 2013, he finished 17th at the conference championship (27:22.90), earning All-PAC Honorable Mention honors. He finished eighth at the league championship in 2011 and 2012, earning a spot on the All-PAC Second Team.

A two-year team captain, Morgan is involved with Thiel’s Students for Civic Participation, serving as the group's conservative chairperson. He has also been involved in Thiel's Christian Fellowship and the Christian Life Academy Service Project. He is a member of Alpha Chi, a national honorary limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's juniors, seniors and graduate students, as well as Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honorary. He has received the Roy H. Johnson American Government Award (scholarship for excellence in political science coursework and activity in the community) along with the Thiel College Presidential Scholarship Award.

Morgan has volunteered with Operation St. Nick, a Christmas gift-giving program for children and families in need, and worked with the Evangel Chapel in Bridgewater, N.J. with the children's ministry and Eurasia Experience. He was also tabbed PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month in November 2013.

Pursuing majors in business administration and political science and a minor in economics, Morgan maintains a 3.99 GPA.
