PAC SAAC Scholar-Athletes of the Month (September 2014)


Each month the Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) at each Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member institution are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Honorees must be a varsity member in their respective sport(s) and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within his or her campus community.

Mandt, a member of Bethany’s women’s volleyball program, has helped the Bison post a 15-6 record through the season's first 21 matches. She has played in 17 matches this season, ranking third on the team in both kills (120) and kills per set (2.26). Her top performance of the season came against Carnegie Mellon University on September 13, where she posted 16 kills and 13 digs in a straight-set win over the Tartans. The victory also marked the 100th of her career.

On campus Mandt is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi international honorary fraternity for education, serves as the vice president of the Senior Class Council and participates in the Kalon Leadership Scholars program. She is also in her second year working with Bethany College President, Scott D. Miller, Ph.D., in the Presidential Associate Program, assisting President Miller and his staff on projects that support the mission and purpose of the College.


Majoring in early education while also pursuing a minor in special education, Mandt carries a 3.82 GPA.

Plummer, captain of Thomas More’s men’s soccer team, was named an All-PAC First Team selection following the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He has appeared in each of the Saints’ 11 matches this fall, earning starts in eight.

He was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II men's soccer first team following the 2013 season.

On campus Plummer serves as the president of Thomas More’s SAAC and as vice president of the mathematics and physics club. He works as tutor in the mathematics and physics departments and as a laboratory assistant in the physics department. He has completed an internship with Beckett Gas, Inc. (North Ridgeville, Ohio), a manufacturer of gas combustion products and components.

Plummer is also active in the community, serving as a youth soccer coach and as a Special Olympics volunteer working with its bowling program. He also assists with the St. Clarence Church Youth Ministry (North Olmsted, Ohio).

Plummer carries a 3.892 GPA while majoring in physics.
