PAC Football Players of the Week (November 11, 2013)

PAC Offensive Player of the Week
Dak Britt • Senior Quarterback • Westminster College
Battle Creek, Mich. / Battle Creek

Britt rushed for a career-high 245 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 169 yards and another score in the Titans’ 45-37 four-overtime loss at Thiel Saturday night. His 38 rushing attempts are the most by a PAC player since Geneva’s Gerard Muschette collected 38 carries against W&J on Oct. 23, 2010, while his 245 rushing yards established new Westminster and PAC records for yards gained on the ground by a quarterback. The senior from Battle Creek, Mich. tied the school record for rushing touchdowns in a game and finished just 10 yards shy of establishing the schools’ single-game rushing record.

PAC Defensive Player of the Week
Wes Schmidt • Junior Linebacker • Thiel College
Kittanning, Pa. / Kittanning

Schmidt recorded a game-high 14 tackles in the Tomcats’ 45-37 quadruple overtime win Saturday over Westminster in the first on-campus night game in the 109-year history of Thiel football. Schmidt, the sixth-leading tackler in the PAC, also recorded an interception, a half-tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry against the Titans.

PAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Dion Wiegand • Senior Running Back • Washington & Jefferson College
Pittsburgh, Pa. / Keystone Oaks

In W&J’s 49-34 victory over Geneva Saturday night, Wiegand’s 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown stopped any momentum gained by the GTs after they scored their first touchdown of the game to cut the Presidents’ lead to 28-10 in the second quarter. He became the first player in W&J history with a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns in a single season; he also had a 92-yard kickoff return for a score against Thomas More on Oct. 12. Wiegand also finished with a game-high 125 rushing yards and a pair of scores in Saturday’s win.
