W&J, Chatham Reach Winner's Bracket Final at PAC Baseball Tournament

Bethany, Grove City still alive going into Friday

WASHINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - Following day two of the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball Tournament at Washington & Jefferson's Ross Memorial Park, W&J and Chatham have moved into the winner's bracket final while Bethany and Grove City remained alive heading into Friday.

Friday's schedule begins with Game G at 11 am when No. 4 Bethany and No. 5 Grove City meet in an elimination game. Game H between No. 2 W&J and No. 6 Chatham is scheduled for 2:30 pm, with the winner moving into Saturday's championship game. Friday's last contest will be Game I at 6 pm featuring the Game G winner versus the Game H loser.

The PAC Championship Tournament winner will also claim the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Selections for the Division III Championship are scheduled to be announced Monday, May 11 with regional preliminary round play slated for Friday-Sunday, May 15-17.


Game D - No. 5 Grove City 12, No. 1 Westminster 1
- Grove City (20-17) used a four-run first inning and three home runs to fuel a decisive 12-1 victory over Westminster (28-12), which eliminated the top-seeded Titans.
- All the Wolverine home runs were solo shots hit by left fielder Dan Luko in the first, right fielder Caleb Backos in the third inning and third baseman Nick Remish in the fifth inning.
- Overall, six of Grove City's 16 hits went for extra bases with center fielder David Chandler going 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI.
- Backos finished the contest 2-for-3 with a trio of runs knocked in and two scored, while Luko and Remish both had two hits as well.
- With the heavy offensive support, Grove City starting pitcher Noah Mackie went the distance on the hill. He allowed one run on seven hits with two walks and five Ks.
- For Westminster with the bats, second baseman Conner Adams and first baseman Grayson Eicher both had two singles each.

Game E - No. 6 Chatham 9, No. 3 Allegheny 6
- A second complete game in as many days and 13 hits keyed Chatham to a 9-6 victory to advance into Friday's winner's bracket game and eliminate Allegheny (26-16).
- The teams were tied at 3-3 going into the bottom of the fifth, but the Cougars (30-12) took control with five runs in the next two innings.
- Chatham used the long ball to break the tie in the fifth, first with a solo homer by first baseman Nolan Boehm and then a two-run blast by third baseman Cooper Baxter.
- Those runs would be plenty for Chatham's starter Matt Bamford. The senior workhorse threw 140 pitches to get through nine innings and struck out 12 as his record improved to 9-3.
- The top five hitters in the Cougar lineup combined for 11 hits, with left fielder Angelo DeLeonardis going 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored.
- Posting two hits and a pair of RBI each was Boehm, Baxter and shortstop Dominic Colarusso.
- The Gators big hitters included catcher Tyler Skaggs, who was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and shortstop Connor Kunkle, who hit a two-run homer.

Game F - No. 2 W&J 10, No. 4 Bethany 1

- W&J (30-11) scratched across four runs in the first inning and continued adding to their lead to pick up a 10-1 win over Bethany (26-16).
- The Presidents' four runs in the first came on two sacrifice flies, a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch, which set the tone for the game.
- Five of the W&J runs came home on sacrifice flies, including two by first baseman Jack Anderson.
- Anderson drove in three in the game and DH Josh Dezenzo knocked in a pair and scored three times.
- W&J finished with 11 hits, highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance by center fielder Paddy Hernjak.
- Earning the win on the mound was starter Chase Perry, who threw seven innings and allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
- Bethany posted six hits in the game, with three coming from center fielder Niko Heidt and third baseman Gian DeGenova
